Just some general advice here -- get yourself a sound bar that does volume leveling. I got this one and it practically changed my life.

Would also recommend a fog machine, lava lamps, backlit/neon artwork. Oh and I did notice even with the laser and led strip on there wasn’t a whole lot of light on the tapestries so I’d say just for a bit more ambient lighting a Phillips hue would be a good investment. I’ve still got some stuff to do to tie it all together but it’s a good start lol
I have the SONOS playbar / sub / play:1's and they're great. Playbar on it's own it might leave you wanting.
If I may make a suggestion; I have another room in my house (Garage / man cave) where I needed a playbar but the SONOS would have been overkill. I purchased a VIZIO playbar from Amazon because it was like $90 and I could return it, plus the reviews were really good.
It sounds SO good. No joke man, I was blown away. Buy it from Amazon, if you don't like it just return it.

If you have room for it I would suggest just going for this guy Vizio 2.1 soundbar
Only reason I suggested that instead of computer speakers is it should yield a bit better sound, especially with the sub included, and you can use it with your computer off if you ever want to play anything via Bluetooth.
Cyber Acoustics CA-3602 has a pretty decent set of reviews as well, and they are at $39.99
If you're running a 2.1 sound system, it's entirely possible.
You have a couple of simple options (there are plenty of other solutions, but these are more or less off-the-shelf solutions):

Vizio Soundbar. That's the 2015 model, the 2016 is like $50 more.
General consensus is that soundbars suck, and compared to a proper setup they do. However, I picked up this soundbar a couple months ago for my bedroom (didn't have space for receiver & bookshelf speakers) and couldn't be happier. Mounting it was a breeze and the sound quality is noticeably better than the tv's speakers which is all I wanted.
The tv remote controls the soundbar's volume like you're wanting (I have it connected via optical), soundbar auto detected the tv and worked right away.
Get the refurb for $125.

$158 before shipping. Minimal and subdued design with a big sound for small to medium sized rooms. Wireless sub is nice for hiding away somewhere. It can be connected to via bluetooth.

Spend the extra money on sound, or did you just plan on using the TV speakers? I know everybody dumps on soundbars, but my parents have this and I really like the sound and bass for movies. Wireless setups are SO NICE.

So you want a sound "bar" not a sound "base". You linked a soundbase in the initial post which is why I focused on those for recommendations.
The soundbar that you linked is IMO way overpriced. I wouldn't spend more than $200 on a sound bar. I would look at something way more affordable like this Vizio for $140.
Here’s the soundbar I have. Sounds great and gets really loud.
There’s other cheaper ones, but that’s the one I recommend. Also you can plug in a BT speaker or w/e via aux if the TV supports it.

That is the one ive been using for a while. It really bumps hard and produces nice sound. I only paid 128 for mine though so you could probably find it somewhere around that price
Not sure if it's the same one Dan has...

I have this one. It replaced an older Sony sound bar with built in subwoofer. I am really happy with it. The sound quality is noticeably better than my old one and $150 is a steal.
The only issue with it is as some of the reviewers stated it will occasionally cut out and require a factory reset to get working again. I've only had to do that twice in the year or so I've owned it so don't consider that big of an issue.
awesome idea. I do have a smaller apartment and believe the echo will hear me from anywhere in it so this may be a better solution. i found this on on amazon and it says you can disable the eco feature that turns it off after no activity. sound bar
I also have a Vizio 4k TV and got this soundbar and sub...works great!

Connect the soundbar to the audio out port & turn off the Vizio internal speaker via the TV menu....pretty easy!
For less than $150, I'd go for a soundbar setup. I haven't heard it, but the Vizio soundbar with a wireless subwoofer might be up your alley. It's not going to give you awesome audiophile-ish sound but it'll be worlds better than just the TV speakers.
Hi,
I was looking to get a soundbar/speaker system mainly for my tv, for playing xbox and listening to music. I saw [this] (https://www.amazon.com/VIZIO-SB3821-C6-38-Inch-Wireless-Subwoofer/dp/B00SMBG8QY/ref=sr_1_6?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1465680934&sr=1-6&keywords=sound+bar) on Amazon and was wondering what the quality of it might be, or for any other suggestions.
My budget is $100-$200.
