I saw these the other day and I'm still trying to make sense of it, unless they mean perfect size for 1 mug cake? do they sell the mug cakes in 4 packs? that would make sense since the frosting has 4 servings. Edit: Yeah, that explains it. DH mug cakes come in 4 packs and they don't include frosting. "Perfect Size for 1" is their product name (instead of mug cake) so I feel like the marketing department must've been really drunk/high the day of approval.

PS I've tried them and I find it offensive to call these things cake.

Amazon does offer yellowcake.

First thing I'd recommend: buy some carbquik and check out all the awesome replacement recipes because if you're like me, you love Pizza.

Also Great Low Carb Bread Co has some amazing bread & pasta products (Netrition carries it for cheaper shipping if you're on the east coast like me) and look into cauliflower rice/potatoes if you like those staples.

The hardest part of the transition for me was not having access to food staples. It hamstrung my start twice before I found these options. These days I eat mostly Paleo and natural foods, so I eat less of these, but they're amazing stepping stone tools to get you into the diet with low effort.

You don't know about Devil's Food and Yellow Cake! Devil's Food is chocolate on chocolate. Yellow Cake is Amazon's best selling cake mix!

Cornbread is an easy one if you use a mix. I like mine sweet with jalapenos- I use this mix and chop up a jalapeno and stir it in. I like mine spicy, so I leave the seeds in, but some folks like to de-seed the jalapeno(s) first. You might want to just leave out the jalapenos altogether though- it's more of a southwest/tex-mex thing than a southern thing. If you overcook it it'll be dry, so make sure to stay on top of it- take it out as soon as a toothpick inserted into the middle comes out without batter on it (it's ok if there are some crumbs, though). Greasing the pan with bacon grease is another great trick - the sweet, savory, and spicy all together is a wonderful combination (even without the jalapenos this is still a great trick). They're best served warm from the oven with butter, and they make fantastic breakfast fare too.

Candied yams is another easy one. Here's a good recipe IMO. Be aware that they're supposed to be quite soft when they're done - almost creamy in consistency- so depending on the recipe you might have to leave them in for longer than it calls for. And yes, it's supposed to be that sweet! It'll probably taste like dessert to you- almost like a pudding. You could also always go the canned route too, but it's not as good IMO. This brand isn't terrible IMO. They'll be a nice side dish to yorkshire pudding and a roast, I think - the sweet and creamy of the yams will be a nice contrast to the fluffy and savory of the roast/pudding. In this case, garlic will still work for the roast, but I'd stay away from rosemary (rosemary + yams aren't the best combination).

Some steamed green beans would be a good addition too, and they're hard to fuck up. Make sure not to overcook them though! They should be softer than raw, but still just able to "snap" when bent in half. And don't add dairy to them- fresh steamed veggies are supposed to be a counterpoint to the richness of the rest of the meal. We add a lot of butter to things, but besides cream in mashed potatoes, most folks don't like dairy in their veggies here (the sole exception being the midwest, who are mostly descended from nordic immigrants- they really like their "hot dish" there, lol).

But YSK I'm not a southern girl, so you should take the advice of the other ladies in this thread when it contradicts mine :)

American Redditors, you realise that finding food like this outside of the U.S. is pretty much impossible? You guys come up with the craziest shit... both crazy good and crazy bad. Go out and buy a take away biscuit with icing pumped all over it? Crazy. That's something I would think up and do at home if I was really high. Being able to go out and buy something like that whenever I want? Crazy. This is what I like about going to the U.S. for work... "people go out looking for this stuff?"

Other food that blows my mind in the U.S.:

Totally unrelated but I bought these like a month ago. Haven't made them yet but they have great reviews! Little more economical too. Good Dee's is another Amazon baking favorite of mine but screw the price tag... I make exceptions for her cornbread (add bacon, cheese, jalapeno, omg) for holidays though.

Got some salty sweet frosting right here for you

I actually got a bag of premix from Amazon! It's not perfect but does get really close. Also I like to put some red bean paste inside and make some taiyaki with the batter.

I use it at least twice a week. For certain recipes it's amazing. I use it for frying exclusively and with a flavored sauce it taste pretty close to flour. They have. Cheese biscuit recipe and a tollhouse chocolate chip cookie that are also my favorites

You could also do this recipe battered with soy flour.

If you buy two boxes it's like 11 bucks a box....i use it often and might buy two boxes a year

You know, I was going to be a smartass and respond with a link to a product like this on Amazon, until I found that, while it exists on the US Amazon site, it seems that it doesn't exist on yours. Carry on then, fellow exchangees.

I've been super lazy lately, so my go to baking has been chai spice cookies. Get some chai latte cake mix from your local target, add 1/3 c oil, and 2 eggs. Mix, portion out onto cookie sheets, and bake at 350 until the middle puffs up then starts to deflate (~8 minutes). It comes with some vanilla bean frosting mix, and you should consider mixing that with a little water, just like you would for a powdered sugar glaze, and spread that on the cookies. They're good cookies either way.

u/Spike217 · 2 pointsr/gaming

It used to be on amazon, sold out though. I think it costed around 5 bucks.

Edit: according to /u/techh10's post it costs 20$, my bad. And yea, that's quite a bit of money.

I beg to [differ.] (http://www.amazon.co.uk/Portal-The-Cake-Official-licensed/dp/B00CDKYVKU/)

(It is, however, bloody expensive)

Jiffy cornbread mix is my go to 20 minute partner to soups and especially chili. I found a 6-pack on Amazon CA Jiffy, Corn Muffin Mix, 8.5oz Box (Pack of 6) https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B00KQ0QC42/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_6-KMDbWHKSKBE

you can order the stuff on amazon (for example, http://www.amazon.com/Vermont-Maple-Syrup-Grade-32-Ounce/dp/B00248E980 )

*for the curious, Grade A and B aren't indicative of quality, but of the flavor profile.

u/GTD_Fenris · 2 pointsr/todayilearned

Ah allright, thank you. Say, I can get 100% Grade B maple syrup from Vermont: http://www.amazon.de/Ahornsirup-B-GRADE-946ml-Plastikbeh%C3%A4lter-946/dp/B00248E980/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1426598840&sr=8-1&keywords=Vermont+Grade+b

Is it any worse than Canadian syrup? I read at 100% it doesnt really matter which brand / region you get...

That one is original, but does everyone realize that you can buy Japanese kits that let you do this kind of thing yourself? These are toy kits that make edible candy that looks like teeny-tiny versions of various foods:

You might not want powdered sugar if you were going to put fruit topping on the funnel cake. Or you don’t like that much sugar. The funnel cake and even Krispy Kreme original donuts are good without the sugar glaze. More savory. Funnel cake with cinnamon sugar would be good, and powder sugar would dilute the cinnamon.

For those wishing for funnel cakes, you can make them at home. [Mix with funnel pitcher](Funnel Cake Starter Kit https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00191L3YQ/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_tai_hnvhDb987N0HG) The mix just uses water, so you don’t have to make the whole box at one time. I look at how to videos to see how thick batter is supposed to be. Just mix a little water at a time until you reach the right consistency. Fresh, hot funnel cake for one or two!

  1. A Joseph Gordon-Levitt poster. Because he makes me VERY hot sweaty and I would like to do things with him that would cause me to be sweaty.

  2. There is nothing better than a slip and slide to help cool down on those hot days!

  3. No picnic would be complete without a giant ant

  4. I would love to vacation in Ireland, and I would bring home the Blarney stone [Disclaimer: Real Blarey stone is too big to bring home.]

  5. A salamander! My sister and I used to go up into the woods and collect them and put them in little plastic containers and keep them as pets. I will sadly say that we were pretty cruel to the little guys...I cannot forgive myself.

  6. On the camping trip, I would bring along a didgeridoo so that we could make sweet, sweet music in the woods. Pair with a harmonic and maybe some stump drums. Camping trips are always better with music!

  7. This sweatshirt is magical. If you watch Workaholics, you will understand.

  8. I'm Gonna Be (500 Miles) by the Proclaimers is an essential song to get pumped for a road trip!

  9. I guess I shouldn't have brought my katana in my carry on! You need protection against those plane hijackers though.

  10. State Farms are so fun! My favorite food at fairs are funnel cakes. MMMMMMM.

Amazon has a couple flavors, but basically I just make it like the instructions say and mix some abv into it before cooking it in the microwave. I grind the abv well so it's flavor is almost unnoticeable.

I generally take shelf stable milk, eggs in a plastic camp egg container that keeps them safe, flour, baking powder, salt, pepper, root vegetables like potatoes, carrots, onions etc. Tinned chilli, tinned tomatoes, dry pasta. Hot sauce. Tea and coffee. Bottled water.

With that, we can do a tonne of stuff and we're always pretty happy.

What makes me happy is making and finishing a craft, their is something magical about making something with your own two hands with raw material.

I had good results when i tried it. I used .9g AVB and made these. I had to use a little extra frosting than usual so i cut the cupcake in two so i could frost it twice. Milk is a good addition as well.

They have a lot more chemical nonsense and dyes in them. I'd rather make a cake from scratch and omit all that funk.

Heres the ingredients for a box yellow cake. No thank you
