I always hand wash because with every dishwasher I have ever used, I either need to prewash or postwash the dishes. If I need to do it by hand anyway, might as well do it right the first time and save a little water and time.

Edit: If you leave the water running all the time while you wash dishes by hand, of course it's not going to save you any water.

  1. Turn on water. 2. Wet dish. 3. Turn off water. 4. Scrub dish clean with soapy sponge. 5. Turn on water. 6. Rinse plate. 7. Turn off water. 8. Dry dish or put on dish drying rack. 9. Repeat as necessary.

... I can't believe I had to spell that out. This is not hard to do, people. It's even easier if you have an aerator with a flow control valve, something like this.

I have the same problem where I live (very hard water), so every six month or so I grab a shifting spanner and remove the ring which holds the aerator (check you pic - notice the indentations where you can grab it with a spanner).

Once out - jam it into a hot water and vinegar mix (about 50/50 split, I boil it in the kettle which cleans it out at the same time, birds with one stone and all that). Limescale begone!

You could also just buy replacement aerators at your local hardware store if you want to skip the vinegar step - they're pretty cheap.

I once owned an Equator brand countertop dishwasher, like this one, but an older version: http://equatorappliances.com/product-detail.php?product=equator-midea-cd-400-3203-w-dishwasher--countertop-6-place-setting-in-white-17-94&category_id=13

I was able to order an adapter kit with it, that allowed me to hook the input up to the sink faucet with a quick release attachment, and the drain line, I simply left in the sink when using the machine, to allow the dirty water to flow down the sink drain.

I do not quickly find an "all-in-one" kit, such I once purchased, but you can buy the parts individually. This attaches to the sink faucet:
https://www.amazon.com/Danco-36108E-Portable-Dishwasher-Aerator/dp/B005792KTS/ref=pd_sbs_60_2?_encoding=UTF8&pd_rd_i=B005792KTS&pd_rd_r=BAX5YPZZH8CR53EKTJFK&pd_rd_w=5dxkh&pd_rd_wg=dj7OV&psc=1&refRID=BAX5YPZZH8CR53EKTJFK

This attaches to the dishwasher's water input hose: https://www.amazon.com/Dishwasher-Coupling-Thread-Nipple-Female/dp/B007DMYQBW/ref=sr_1_8?ie=UTF8&qid=1500924894&sr=8-8&keywords=dishwasher+faucet+adapter+kit

You hold the hose and push down on the white plastic flange to connect or release the hose from the skinny nipple fitting on the faucet. You can really make any dishwasher portable this way. I have done the same as well with a standard full-sized dishwasher, by building a plywood box on casters to hold it, and plumbing it this way.

If you do purchase any "countertop" or "mobile/portable" dishwasher, consider the size of your dinner plates first. I found that any plates larger in diameter than 10 inches/25.4 centimeters would not fit in this type of dishwasher.

Your experience may vary, but I hope this is of some assistance. Best of luck.

These are the screens from a faucet aerator .

I mean, in that printed tiny plastic bag, though, my bet is that they’re intended for use with a pipe, now, but the same thing is available online.

You can get an attachment that replaces the aerator on your kitchen sink and attach a wort chiller to it. Like this one

This is what I did:
1. misting system
2. timer
3. water filter
And if you need it:
4. hose Y connector

I connected the Y connecter to the spigot, connected the timer to that and the water filter to the timer, misting system to the water filter. Spigot->timer->filter->misting system. The trickiest part is setting up the misting heads because they just give you a long length of piping and you have to cut it down and place the misting heads according to your needs. In the pack there are about eleven (don’t remember exactly) misting heads (they look like black plastic T’s) and one piece that looks like a misting spigot that’s actually a three way connector (the other ten are just two way connectors with the third being the misting outlet that you screw the brass misting head into). There’s also only one end cap plug that fits into the connecter hole for one of the misting heads to finish/cap off the line when you get to the end). Because I incorporated the 3 way connecter to have two layers of lines running parallel to each other, I just capped off the end of one of the lines with the end cap plug and the other with hot glue. A little janky but effective! So far, the misting system has been doing a much better job of watering the orchids than I ever was doing it manually. After you set it up you should do a trial run to see if all the heads are misting properly and if the timer works correctly. If you’re having issues with the misting heads not misting, try unscrewing them a little to see if loosening it helps. If not, I think they give you one extra brass misting head so swap it out for the spare and see if that helps. Good luck!

I just went through this trying to get my siphon working. Two products I recommend:
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B012YVX1BC?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
And then
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07DLHYR71?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share

If you’re lucky one side of the cache key will fit. Then if you’re even more lucky one of the adapter pieces will allow you to convert the inside threads to outside threads.
The cache key fit my aerator but none of the adapters did, but the selection in the pack is pretty decent.

May not look the best but the make an aerator that swivels and this would redirect the water flow .

It would be very unusual for the faucet threads to be non standard but even if they were you could buy something like this universal adapter that just slips over the end of the faucet and then tightens down with a hose clamp.

i work in a plumbing supply house. ive seen maybe one or 2 home owners come in with something like this before.

that adapter it comes with is made to screw into an aerator on pretty much comes on every inexpensive kitchen faucet. such as where that piece on the end of this spout screws off, http://www.us.kohler.com/us/Coralais-three-hole-kitchen-sink-faucet-with-8-1-2-spout,-matching-finish-sidespray-and-lever-handle/productDetail/Kitchen-Sink-Faucets/421150.htm;jsessionid=3CEABFDB586518D0D4CB3EB8F70F1AC6.kohler-prod1-ecom2?prodColor=G
you wouldnt be able to adapt to that current faucet,as in the end of the spout. thats a machine thread that is most likely specific to the manufacture to aerator thread unless someone makes it but. ive never seen it

the only way that comes to mind is to get a max adapter this to go under that sink. on the hot side
http://www.homedepot.ca/product/brass-max-adapter-3-8-inch-x-3-8-inch/966941
this would go on the speedy valve under the sink.
this to the max adapter

this into the house end then your adapter for the washing machine
http://www.amazon.com/LDR-500-2050-Aerator-Adapter/sim/B000I1CDEM/2
a little messy but thats the only idea i haave

u/psyop63b · 2 pointsr/Homebrewing

You can buy an adapter to connect your kitchen faucet to the "garden hose" end of your IC (adapter is male-male). You should be able to find one at your LHBS / hardware store (I got mine at ACE). Just unscrew the aerator from the end of your faucet and screw this in it's place and attach the IC.

I also recommend you buy a hose designed for potable water (such as for RV's) if you need extra reach. I was surprised to learn most garden hoses have parts containing lead (WTF?)

u/odiehoosac · 2 pointsr/Homebrewing

I got mine from the local home brew store. Mine doesn't look like this but I looked up faucet to hose adapter and this guy might work. http://www.amazon.com/Dual-Thread-Faucet-Adapter-Hose/dp/B000DZKX5Y

u/redwoodser · 2 pointsr/DIY

I think it’s a great idea, but it’s pretty impractical. Lugging around a 50 gallon drum container of, or a few hundred gallons of water, would be a weighty and logistical nightmare. Water is very very heavy, and unless you have a golf cart that you can put huge water containers on, it would be very difficult for you to transport the water around.

This adapter lets you attach a garden hose into a kitchen sink. Do you have a slop sink in the basement of the building? Near washers and dryers? Many slop sink faucets allow for a garden hose to be attached to the outer threads.

https://www.amazon.com/Dual-Thread-Faucet-Adapter-Hose/dp/B000DZKX5Y/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1472934845&sr=8-3&keywords=kitchen+sink+water+hose+adapter

Also, a washing machine hose has the same diameter and threads of a garden hose. Meaning that the valve on the wall is like the kind on the outside of many buildings for garden hoses.

You will need to get a 100 foot heavy duty extension cord, and a 100 foot heavy duty garden hose, or more, imho. And maybe some ear plugs if you’re out there for a while.

That plastic piece you see should have also been removed, might be able to use a pair of needle nose pliers very carefully, or they make special tools:

https://www.amazon.ca/Delta-RP52217-Aerator-Wrench-Cache/dp/B002Q4663S/ref=asc_df_B002Q4663S/?tag=googlemobshop-20&linkCode=df0&hvadid=263670313637&hvpos=1o1&hvnetw=g&hvrand=17028447693373938505&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=m&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9001266&hvtargid=pla-384815918299&psc=1

It’s a bit pricey for what you get, so you may also be able to walk into a plumbing wholesaler and see about asking for one for free. They come with most new taps and basically go straight in the garbage for most people anyway.

A tank wand like this one might come in handy.

So I'm trying to connect a hose from here to the sink faucet here.

The adapter I have is this one

u/ImAScaryMonster · 1 pointr/Homebrewing

Faucet to hose adaptor and nozzle came from Amazon. The tricky part was finding a hose I liked. I ended up springing for this pricier one from McMaster-Carr, part # 54635K11. The rest is assorted stuff from Home Depot to get it all to meet up with each other. Good luck!

u/firemarshalbill · 1 pointr/ReefTank

You want a male to male faucet hose adapter. Link below just to see it, but home depot or lowes will carry them.

I would suggest buying a new, longer cord, as more unions means more places for potential leaks.
But, I think you would be looking for something like this:

There is an adapter that you can screw in to your kitchen sink (after remove the aerator from the faucet) and then attach a garden hose to.

I have something similar (but not as big on my kitchen faucet. I like it, but I don't have a hose sprayer and won't be able to get one until I replace my sink. It has enough range that I can rinse all sides of my sink after scrubbing it down.
