Best pendant light fixtures according to redditors

I was looking for pendant lights on [Amazon] (http://www.amazon.com/Westinghouse-Lighting-7028600-Single-Light-Mini-Pendant/dp/B000WEMHF0/ref=sr_1_6?ie=UTF8&qid=1453654054&sr=8-6&keywords=pendant+lamp+kit).

The first thing I would do is replace the butterfly light, perhaps with a simple black pendant?

You can wire a long braided flex onto a ceiling pendant bulb and hang it from a cup hook on the ceiling, with a plug on the end and just plug into the wall. Like thispendant on plug

Back when I had this issue, I bought a pendant light that comes with a wall plug and put a led floodlight in it, so it hits the table just right. You can probably get away with just a regular LED light bulb, instead of the floodlight.

Something similar to this.

You'll want the LED so it doesn't get hot. And the plug comes with a 15 foot chord.

It is a ceiling light, you should hire an electrician to connect it to your house wiring. It is compatible with a light dimmer, your electrician will know which type to install. Your 12V remote dimmer will not work.

The shades we poached off some unfortunate looking table lamps from Target - the best shades have to be bought with lamp bases! We just made sure a plug would fit through the spider of the lamp :)

Yeah. They all have the operating temperatures announced, and basically inside a closed fixture, the operating temperature is... unknown, unpredictable, a factor that they don't have so they can't possibly calculate it either. Heat dissipation qualities are also different if the shade is glass vs. linen vs. wood vs. metal.

Succulents are weird; most store CO2 during the day and generate sugars at night when it's dark. So don't leave lights on overnight.

Using them during the day for supplemental light should be fine.

If you want something that would look more like ordinary light, I use hanging swag lights with these spotlights over a few of my plants:

This is a tough order for a makeover!

Couch isn't bad, but if you want to upgrade: one | two | three

Coffee Tables (your current one might be fine): one | two | three| four | five

Rugs (black and white or saturated colors seem to be the trend with this style): one | two | three | four | five

Lighting (I doubt you can install fixtures in your rental, so go for swag lights with cords): one | two

Decor ideas:

• Cement/concrete planter pots
  
• Don't forget to add other textures for warmth and softness - rope, rattan, sheep skin & wool, deep wood tones, rich pops of color
  
• Do you use the fireplace? If not you could prop art, mirrors, vintage window frames, candles, or plants in front of it.

I don't know what brand that link is referencing. It just says grow tent. I don't see why it wouldn't work. Tents aren't my thing, I can't really offer you much information there.

Any ballast will work for the wattage you want, you'll need to figure out whether you want a magnetic or electronic. I use cheap sun system magnetic ballasts.

This is just a light hanger, any will do. You could use just ropes or chains if you have them as well.

Reddit seems to have a particular hangup with calathea but so far mine have been behaving.
I get fairly good light in my apartment but being in the Northeast I wanted to supplement for winter. I actually just use a balanced spectrum grow bulb in a hanging lamp I built with parts from Amazon. I didn't like the look of anything so made my own.
