Almost everything except transmission fluid I installed myself. The rotors are DBA 5000s. The absolute best deal for the GTR. No Gtr tax and performance that rivals the stock rotors, also no noise at all. I went with the Hawk Ceramic brake pads. Also a great deal. Great stopping power with little dust and zero noise. Brakes cost me around 1500$ total (Nissan dealership here wanted over 8k.)

Now the transmission fluid is expensive but I got Pentosin DCT fluid. It's expensive as hell but it's way cheaper than OEM and it should last through two trans oil changes (about 38k miles.) Performance is just like OEM.

Just buy these. They are inexpensive and have good reviews.

Even being an entry level kit, it will be on another plane from your V-brakes.

Slotted and drilled rotors are worse than blank rotors for street use. MAYBE slotted if you were tracking the car. Never buy drilled (they crack). Just buy cheap blank rotors.

Gotcha.. Amazon sells our Brembo rotors if I'm not mistaken.

I'm running StopTech pads...been great for me.

I've done front brakes on my Cruze and Sonic and it was a breeze each time. You can get a set of ACDelco rotors and pads on Amazon for under $100 with Prime shipping, which is a big deal since the rotors are friggin' heavy as heck.

  • pads: $32.64
  • rotors: $27.55 x 2
  • total: $87.74

Pro tip #1: don't forget that there is a small Torx bolt holding the rotor to the hub. it will seem stuck otherwise.

Pro tip #2: coat the surface of the hub in anti-seize so the wheel is easier to get off next time.

Went with StopTech (aka Centric) slotted rotors and Hawk pads. Drives excellent. I recommend going with the slotted rotors. Buy the rotors on Amazon the prices are really good...

They work wonderfully. I am using Wagner Ceramic Pads with them

We replaced the rear brakes at 64k miles on our 2013 but that was a bit late (one pad was totally gone and ruined the rotor). I don't think there's an indicator to make noise when the pad is almost worn out. We bought the car with 26k miles on it and I don't think the brakes had been changed before that.

Replaced the rotors with cheap Callahan ones from Amazon @ $50 for both and got a great deal on these Power Stop 16-1665 Z16 Ceramic Brake Pads for $10 used, like new from Amazon warehouse deals. You should be able to find new brake pads for under $40 easily.

The old rotors were stuck pretty well on the hub but there is a hole on the rotor that you can put a screw into to push the rotor away form the hub. The bolt that came with this kickstand happened to fit the hole perfectly. This video shows what I mean.

Thanks, hub bearing seems to be what it is.

I've never replaced them before and I'm kind of confused. I guess it's two pieces and I can just replace the bearing since it's the wear part? or are there instances where I need to replace both?

Also if I just replace the bearing I have to get it pressed together right? Does that require special tools/a shop?

I found this on Amazon, since it says assembly that means it's the hub and the bearing pressed together already, right?

Look into R1 Concepts. I've had their budget (named ELINE) rotors with the basic zinc coating, GEOMET coated rotors, and ceramic pads on my tC2 and they've done great. I've even autocrossed a few times. Right now you can get front drilled and slotted ELINE rotors and ceramic pads for the front for $106 on Amazon. https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B00J4PO684/ref=cm_sw_r_sms_apa_i_7.AZDbJ8NYYK3

Very easy to do a rotor and pad job yourself. Does require a couple of tools though. Even with the tools you'll be saving a bunch of money.

Changed the front brakes on my sister's civic for less than $150 dollars for the parts.

Besides sockets and a ratchet, you'll want to either get a C-clamp or a a brake caliper tool: https://www.amazon.com/Lisle-24400-Disc-Brake-Spreader/dp/B0002SQU9K

Also some brake lubricant: https://www.amazon.com/Permatex-24129-Silicone-Extreme-Lubricant/dp/B01L1LV9F6/ref=sr_1_11?s=automotive&ie=UTF8&qid=1496554333&sr=1-11&keywords=brake+lube

And sometimes its tough to take the rotor screws off, for that you will need an impact driver: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B002O16UPM/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Since your car is pretty new, you might not need the impact driver unless your rotors are rusty.

I used this rotor + pad set for the car : https://www.amazon.com/Power-Stop-K1043-Evolution-Drilled/dp/B005FKMOWM

I've put powerstop rotors and pads on 4 cars now and they have worked quiet well. Some people were saying that the drilled rotors are prone to cracks, but that won't happen for a daily drive car on the street. Other rotor and pad options:

https://www.amazon.com/Wagner-BD125669E-Premium-Coated-Brake/dp/B00HJJDSZO

https://www.amazon.com/ACDelco-17D914C-Professional-Ceramic-Front/dp/B000IYY7PW

Rears will be different than the ones I posted, so check and see what will fit. Amazon makes it pretty easy, just enter your car and it'll tell you what fits.

Since you have watched videos on the change, I don't think you need me to tell you how to do it.

No, they're separate. Ok, thanks. That's what I thought. Are the rotors worth changing out to an entry level Shimano set as well? This set seems to be a pretty good deal; it's only ~$10 more for the rotors included than just getting both of the calipers/levers. Only thing is the right lever controls the front brake. Do you know what the process is for switching the levers? I don't mind bleeding the brakes again, but is this doable?
