FTW people keep messaging me that I am hacking. :)

Well, Newegg has em for $40 and the last time I checked, Best buy had a bundle of GoW/Uncharted 1+2 with a controller.

Edit: Just got an e-mail from Amazon so here's some third-party controller deals.

Splitfish Dual SFX Evolution Wireless Controller for just $23. I own one and it works pretty good, no dead zones but the button layouts feels awkward. Rapidfire was fun to use, only tried it on Mass Effect 3 though. It feels like a monster when you hold it btw. Here's the video review of it.

HKS Racing Controller for $36.09. This is strictly for racing games and I've never really tried it. HKS Racing Controller Review.

PS3 Eagle Eye Mouse and Keyboard Converter which is $49.88. I know you don't want to shell out too much money but if you want to play the PS3 with a keyboard + mouse, then here ya go. You can also check out the Tactical Assault Commander 3 but I wouldn't recommend it. Eagle Eye PS3 Review. Btw, if you do get the Eagle Eye, expect playing it like this. A better demonstration of Eagle Eye.

Play n Type Wireless Controller with Keypad for $38.03. I seriously don't like this controller, it looks terrible. Just get the official wireless keypad. It's like, what, $21 on Amazon? Here's the review of it, no such video demonstrating the actual typing though.

You can also check the third party controllers in Gamestop or Bestbuy like afterglow but I totally wouldn't recommend it. Like seriously. Shit's so bright even in daylight.

u/starship_hermit · 5 pointsr/mpminidelta

I myself purchased this to solve that issue, and it works wonderfully. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00RUV75D2/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_pf45AbDCK7VVT

u/chrislouden · 5 pointsr/ps3bc2

http://www.penguinunited.com/. I got it from Amazon

minor tweaking to settings required. Had it programed and working in less than 15 min. I'd say it is 90% of the "PC".

u/Farkeman · 4 pointsr/Games

you can buy eagle eye converter for ps3 and you can play any game you want with mouse and keyboard.

insane advantage say the least.

u/b4kedpie · 3 pointsr/PS3

Sony brand PS2 controller + PS2 to USB converter = best PS3 controller for cheap.

http://www.amazon.com/PS2-Playstation-Controller-Adapter-Converter-3/dp/B000PS1TG6/

When the PS3 is on and the controller is plugged in, press the Analog button to "sync" the controller. The Analog button acts as the Home button. Press once for the XMB and twice for the controller options.

Want Xbox a styled controller? Look in-store Walmarts for Power A controller. http://www.walmart.com/ip/Pro-EX-POWER-A-PS3-Wired-Controller-Black-PS3-PS3/14962336

Another Xbox style: PDP Afterglow
http://www.amazon.com/Afterglow-AP-1-Controller-PS3-Playstation-3/dp/B003IU01LC/

Third party controllers are known to have more dead zone in the analog sticks. So I'd go the PS2 controller route if you need that precision.

u/Abestar · 3 pointsr/truegaming

All do if you buy something like this: http://www.amazon.com/dp/B0040UAYI4

u/KiiLLBOT · 3 pointsr/gaming

One thing you could do is buy this then challenge him to a match but other than that I don't know of any contest where that happened

Well, the setup is basically two pieces...

  • Sony DualShock 2 controller (I have plenty of my old ones from PS2, still mint condition, that I use. Probably hard to find these new, but possible with eBay and Amazon. If you have some of your own of these, you're halfway there.)

  • DualShock2-to-USB Adapter (Amazon Examples: [1], [2], [3].. these create a DirectInput gamepad on your PC, not Xinput (Xbox 360/One gamepad), so while great for emulators and PC games that have customizable controls, they won't work for newer PC/Steam games that assume you're using a 360 gamepad.

The adapter will also work with the Sony PlayStation 1 original gamepad and DualShock 1.

Also... if you have a SNES gamepad, here's an adapter for that. (But I find the extra L2/R2, analog sticks and their L3/R3 buttons are useful for other emulation buttons such as speed-up, save state, load state, etc).
u/xenophobe51 · 2 pointsr/ps3bf3

You can get a converter box. There are also PS3 mouse controllers like the Splitfish and Aimon brands. I tried the Aimon one and it works well once you configure it, but I hated the button layout on the left hand 'nunchuk' and the responsiveness of the shape buttons on the mouse, so I returned it.

Edited for spelling and added links.

u/anxietylol · 2 pointsr/simracing

These are going to be your best bang for buck converters.
https://www.amazon.com/Gam3Gear-Xbox-One-Converter-Adapter-Keychain/dp/B01N5ST03C/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1537997501&sr=8-4&keywords=brook+ps4+to+xbox+1

I use a xbox 360 converter to PS4 for my arcade stick for fighting games and they work flawlessly. You just need to update the firmware whenever xbox1 has an update, takes 2 minutes.

u/Tupandactylus · 2 pointsr/gaming

You could use this if you really wanted to.

u/LogicalSpider · 2 pointsr/battlefield3

Most people, and using here as an example, are hardened to answer this question with an immediate "no." Conversely, there are several mouse/keyboard converters for the PS3; here is the best one: Eagle Eye Converter
Plenty of videos on how to install, operate, and how it functions are available on Youtube. The advantage of using this in comparison to a controller is valid, but a great number of people are using it.

u/AsoBit · 1 pointr/ps2

I bought two like this

One didn't work and the other did. The one that works has been working perfectly for me for more than 9 months so far. I use it to play MAME and Dark Souls mostly.

u/BMOIAM · 1 pointr/AskGames
u/Duke_LFG · 1 pointr/MortalKombat

Alternatively you could use something like this. PSN controllers are better for the dpads.

https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B01N5ST03C/ref=sspa_mw_detail_1?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=A26BKZHHS8SI0Z

And finally there is the elite controller. It's got great buttons, absolutely not worth the 150 price tag. Find it on sale, then it's totally worth it!

u/Shock900 · 1 pointr/gaming

I highly doubt (in fact I'm almost positive) that next-gen console owners won't be able to play games with them without 3rd party hardware and software. Adding a feature like accepting a keyboard and mouse as a controller would make it unfair for the other console players who use and are used to controllers. It would be a terrible move by either Microsoft or Sony, therefore they won't do it.

u/DankidyDan2521 · 1 pointr/metalgearsolid

There exists a gaming mouse for PS3, pretty sure it has a gamepad too, and is compatible with any FPS/TPS.

Here it is.

Apparently that one's pretty shitty, but there's also this.

u/temnota · 1 pointr/gaming

They purposely don't want you to do it because it would unbalance the game. You can buy a converter like this though

u/SkorcherX · 1 pointr/PS3

Well you can shell out $60 and use this.

u/PhlyDaily · 1 pointr/Warthunder

Does anyone know how this will work? Will ps4 players be able to play with pc players. One of my main concerns is that ps4 players won't be able to keep up with mouse users with the ps4 controller. The only way possible if the ps4 has something like this
Or what about FRB? Any thoughts guys?

Edit- After re reading the article, this quote makes me feel like they will be separate, "PC-version."

u/TwoScoopsofDestroyer · 1 pointr/pcmasterrace

Not officially, anyway. http://www.amazon.com/Eagle-Mouse-Keyboard-Converter-Playstation-3/dp/B0040UAYI4 still has the limitations of controller, but you can set the joystick sensitivity up to full at least, for the fastest 360 possible without losing all aiming capability.

u/chooseopensource · 1 pointr/PS3

Pick up a product like Eagle Eye

I have heard good things about them

u/Bcarey1233 · 1 pointr/gaming
u/eduardog3000 · 1 pointr/gaming

I found this which is cheaper than the XIM Edge, either way, they are both really expensive.

u/elo228 · 1 pointr/gaming

there is adaptors that you can buy, most people don't like them, and the truth is that it only takes a few days to start getting good with a controller.

I was never as good with a K/M when I used to play CS 1.6, and i played it for a long time.

But Check this adapter out it has some pretty good reviews and for the price of a controller it might be the thing just for you.

u/benesgarage · 1 pointr/PS4

This specifically would have to be supported by the game developers. There are also PS3 keyboard and mouse adapters that work pretty well, allowing you to use it on any game.

Here's an example: http://www.amazon.com/Eagle-Mouse-Keyboard-Converter-Playstation-3/dp/B0040UAYI4/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1314419035&sr=8-1

No news on PS4 yet though.

u/IronOxide42 · 1 pointr/truegaming

In regards to the keyboard/mouse, I'll just leave this here

u/lisabadcat · 1 pointr/gaming

I bought one of these for the PS3. It works well, but I still prefer the controller on the PS3. Plus, you can't switch between this and a regular controller without pausing, disconnecting, reconnecting the other device like you can on PC.

u/IAmA_Kitty_AMA · 1 pointr/gaming

There are third party accessories that allow keyboard and mouse control over consoles. I don't know if they're banned at the competitive level, but I imagine that people use them.

Example http://www.amazon.com/Eagle-Mouse-Keyboard-Converter-Playstation-3/dp/B0040UAYI4
or
http://www.extreme-mods.com/XCM-XFPS-40-Force-for-Playstation-3-PS3_p_241.html

u/stopkillingcarmine · 1 pointr/mw3

They make them, this is what I've seen used I think:

http://www.amazon.com/Eagle-Mouse-Keyboard-Converter-Playstation-3/dp/B0040UAYI4

I can't speak for reliability though.

u/d4nm3d · 1 pointr/gaming

There all ready are...

My amazing Googling skills have turned up this extremely illusive piece of hardware right in the top result!!

http://gizmodo.com/223963/xcm-xfps-xbox-360-keyboardmouse-adapter-in-action

I bet if i changed my search a little i could find one for the PS3 too... let's see..

OMG.. yes it does :

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Eagle-Eye-Mouse-Keyboard-Converter/dp/B0040UAYI4

u/chupchap · 1 pointr/truegaming

The debate shouldn't be about console vs PC as PS3 does support keyboard and mouse combo provided the developer has added the code for the same. I think Unreal Tournament and CS:GO support them from what I have heard and then there are peripherals like this and this for people who are more comfortable with a mouse.

u/loldongslol · 1 pointr/tf2

Have you seen this or this? I haven't tried them personally, but have actually heard some good things about both. Obviously it's not a perfect substitute, though.

u/Meallus · 1 pointr/gaming

I know for a fact there is a way to do this though iirc the article about it said you would probably get better results with a controller since the PS3 version is designed for use with a gamepad. I'll see if I can dig up that article, if I can I'll edit this and post the link.

Edit: Found a couple of threads about it on COD forums and most of them agree that the "best" way to do this is use one of these. Heres hoping that helps!

u/nickknack44 · 1 pointr/PS3

Actually they aren't out of luck! You can buy a ps2 to usb adapter http://www.amazon.com/dp/B000PS1TG6/ref=cm_sw_r_udp_awd_pDPBub0HBXFK5
And plug it into the ps3's usb port and play using a guitar or previous PlayStation controller.

u/yaktoast · 1 pointr/playstation

Most games don't support Keyboard and Mouse on PS3 natively, Unreal Tournament 3 does but not many do. You can get converters http://www.amazon.com/dp/B0040UAYI4 and specially made controllers http://www.amazon.co.uk/SplitFish-Gameware-SFE-109-QV2-FragFX-Controller/dp/B001P7DD4C/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=videogames&qid=1260265226&sr=1-1 to make things easier though.

u/SEMobster · 1 pointr/dragonballfighterz

If you get a stick for under $100, at the very least make sure it's easily modiable. I don't know much Xbox arcade sticks but I usually recomend a Qanba Drone but since you're on Xbox you'll have to use a Converter. There is also a Evo edition with Sanwa parts already installed

u/Nykies · 0 pointsr/Blacklight

really? because it's existed for PS3 and Xbox360 for like... a long time.... years... http://www.amazon.com/Eagle-Mouse-Keyboard-Converter-Playstation-3/dp/B0040UAYI4

u/klevtherussian · 0 pointsr/gaming

you just have to get one of these

u/Mpstark · -1 pointsr/battlefield3

I agree. But check this out.

u/Ryz999 · -1 pointsr/gaming

You can try this but I prefer a controller, so I couldn't tell you if it's any good. The reviews are pretty solid though.

u/TehRegulator · -2 pointsr/gaming

I've been using a keyboard and mouse to pwn PS3 controller players for years now. I couldn't help myself.

I'm a PC gamer that just did this for the sake of doing it.
