Second, if you're with a halfway decent shop. You're going to be in a 3mm wetsuit for your pool sessions. Most pools are kept in the low 80s and without a wetsuit, you're going to be freezing quickly. So ultimately; you're going to be covered head to toe most for most of the training.
For a gender neutral look.
Concealment: Get a cheap bikini bottom, a size lower than you need. This will compact everything and give you a nice smooth look downstairs.
Shorts: Basic women's board shorts
Top: Any rash guard
If you're presenting female, then I'd go with the bikini bottom for the same reasons, and a Tankini for the rest.

I'm not really big about showing my body, so I just chose a bikini top and then these swim shorts. They're not too long to make it seem like you're trying to cover up, but not short enough to feel exposed. They're perfect!
pro tip! fold-over bikini bottoms (i have these) don't cut into your fat! take it from me, i carry all my weight in my love handles, lol.

I need a swimsuit recommendation. My body shape recently changed (double mastectomy... obligatory fuck cancer). For the most part, I'm doing OK with embracing my new shape and kind of having fun exploring styles that, as a busty gal, I couldn't really pull off. All these boxy, androgynous looks and drapey button downs.
Anyway, my fella was cleaning his pool the other day and asked if I thought I might feel up to floating around, as is tradition. It occurred to me that most of my swimsuits have molded cups. I'm having trouble finding one I like that will accommodate a totally flat chest. Mastectomy suits are 1) pricey and 2) mostly designed to accommodate an insert, which I am not using. They also all look matronly. I am in my 40's, but I do not do matronly. Styles I gravitated to before were one piece. Mostly retro 50's or 80's plunge, neither of which will really work anymore. I'm not thin.. I wear about a 14.
I did find these bottoms that I like the cut of. Any suggestions?

So I ordered this swimsuit from Amazon and it definitely hides my bikini line hairs, which was a relief after many many years of embarrassing exposure.
I know this is late but this sub needs some activity anyway. My swimsuit consists of a long-sleeve rash guard with a high neck, a bikini bottom with an attached skirt, and swim leggings underneath the skirt. I also wear a swim cap since I cover my hair generally. I wanted to have a swimsuit that was really swimsuit material so that I could swim in it well and this works out fine.
I have a 40" hip and 31" waist and these fit.The sizing was also true to size.

I am a 3X and I got these from Amazon and they're great, especially for the price. The fabric is a little thin, but not seethrough and nothing to worry about, they just may not last as long. My absolute favorite pole shorts though are swimsuit bottoms from Torrid.
If you want to go high waisted, then go high waisted. You could get away with any type with that sort of top. I would choose one with some added details on them, like these ruched ones with the side ties. Just found it on amazon and there are similar type styles there i think would also work.

You can find the bikini styles by search "retro bikini" Amazon has some cute ones. They also have some similar looking dresses under both vintage and retro dresses. For some reason retro tends to be a better search term sometimes. Best of luck!
