good suggestion, better yet they make little padlocks for luggage that have 3 or 4 digit codes, no key required (or lose-able)

Just buy a 3 # combo lock and lock up your backpack(Never had a problem, I stress about this shit all the time) . I keep my gum ,chapstick and a shitty pair of sunglasses in the outside compartment. Keep everything locked up in the main compartment. No key or anything.

There are TSA approved locks with wire shackles that fit almost anywhere.

I personally use the Sesamee because it's a lot stronger and harder to bypass (the Master Lock has a well know bypass technique) but if you're on a budget either will work.

Ignore the title, this is not "Ultra-Secure" but it is nice to use to tether your bag to a physical object so it doesn't walk away on you. I would do this on the train so I could fall asleep not having to worry that someone could just grab my bag and run. Could they cut it? Absolutely. But it stops the people who are just looking for the opportunity to grab something and run.

We're planning on buying a couple bags when we get there, as we can check 2 bags for free with the airline with which we're flying. Therefore, I'm not anticipating lack of space for things we buy once we get there. We're mainly bringing the clothesline and laundry material because we're not sure about everywhere we're going. We might end up in some places out of town for a few days and it would be nice to have laundry supplies (plus they don't take up much room).

Thanks for the great tips :) The locks that we're getting are these, which don't seem too elaborate. Do you think those are a good idea? The sandals I'm planning on bringing are very comfortable and I could walk long distances in them. They're also pretty stylish, so I think I could pull off going out in them if needed. Hopefully I can get by with just those.

So you think I'll want the earplugs and face mask for the plane? I was thinking of earplugs in case we end up near some loud neighbors at some point, but maybe I'll pick some up before I leave if that's the case.

I do this at work a lot. My job requires that I dress pretty nice, and dealing with IWB doesn't work for me in slacks and a dress belt.

My solution: Bag + Pocket Holster + Combo Luggage Lock.

Most messenger bags, man-purses, etc have a place that's similar enough in size to a pants pocket that a pocket holster for the weapon will fit nicely in. This will keep it in place and cover the trigger. Works great. However, if the firearm is not directly in your control, it's your responsibility to take reasonable precautions - you don't want a coworker rummaging in your bag if there's a firearm in it. My bag zips closed, so I use a luggage lock like this one. Won't stop a bad guy, but it lets me not stress about my firearm back in the office when I'm taking a piss.

I use these. Easy to use. Safe. Small. And if for some reason they need to check your case while you aren't present, they can open it and relock it. With other methods your case would stay unlocked and vulnerable until you were able to lock it again.

Had my bag gone through during Motorhead in 2014(RIP Lemmy). but luckily I had my wallet and phone and stuff in front buttoned pockets so they only ended up getting a pack of smokes from me.

Since then I go empty in the pockets and everything in one pocket in the camelpak which I bought a small lock for. Has key and combo options. Basically just thread the lock through the double zippers for the pocket.

It can be a little wonky to get the timing of stuff down for what you actually want/need at a particular time and not always be fiddling with your bag but worth it at the end of the day I guess.

This wouldn't stop any of the knifing comments I've seen below but I've also never had that happen to me.

Buy a lock that has a small wire cable to thread through zipper holes.

People recommend cable locks sometimes since they're more flexible to lock things. Also this one is pretty light.

I just bought one of These for my camelback security. As I was planning on keeping most of my belongings in it. Any thoughts?

Any small, TSA-approved padlock should work. They're all the same.

Get one with a combination lock, not a keyed lock, so that you don't have to worry about the key. I prefer a cable lock because it's easier to thread through the zippers.
