Isn't this a pretty standard price for this thing? I also don't really think it's a good price for an older mouse like this, with a laser sensor especially.

If you're absolutely in love with steelseries or the general shape get a rival 100 for $24, or $16 if you can catch it on their website(it has a better sensor for gaming, and similar button layout/shape for non-gaming use):

Or if you have more to spend, you can pretty easily pick up mice with better sensors for $35~$40 from logitech, razer corsair or even steelseries themselves.

Well.... here's some great mice for under your $50 minimum. The Logitech 300 series (300, 302, 303) are all 20-40 and are my personal recommendation if you're on a budget.

I've heard good things about the SteelSeries Rival 100.

If you're looking for a mechanical keyboard here's the one i'm using right now and here's my mouse

u/MrGulio · 2 pointsr/buildapc

Not sure what country you're in but doing a google conversion for Euros to USD I'm seeing a couple of mice that are in the $45 price range. Look at the bodies of these and see if any will meet what you're looking for in terms of grip.

Looks alright. I wouldn't reccomend Ryzen chips. I would probably get something more like an i7 6700k or the 6700 (which is around $20 cheaper if you can't justify the price) for gaming. If you end up choosing an Intel CPU you'll have to choose a different Mobo as well but there are lots of good ones.

I'd reccomend getting an entry level 144Hz Screen. If you can stretch to something like this I would seriously reccomend it, though it's not going to hurt you if you don't. I think it was Jake from LG Evil that made T500 early in the game on a Mac Book running OW in wine.

I personally don't like any gaming Headsets other than the HyperX Clouds. There is a huge quality difference between them and any other "gaming" headsets I have used.

As far as mice and keyboards, I would probably just buy a nice cheap Keyboard to begin with because there are no benefits really to having a good keyboard if you're on a budget. A mouse is kinda personal, I use a Steel Series Rival 100 but am a palm style user and am completely arm aim. It's a good cheap mouse but you may want something else if your grip style is different. My brother plays claw and doesn't mind it though.

Parts and gear you should prioritise for Overwatch are: Good GPU. 6GB 1060s are plenty for overwatch unless you want to be running the game at consistently over 240FPS (here's Taimou's settings btw. These will help with you configuring your settings for Overwatch). A fast CPU (Overwatch can be very CPU dependant). SSDs are kinda nice and fairly cheap. If you have a SSD btw you're at a direct benefit to most other players because you load in matches faster and can therefore instalock first, if that's your thing. :P Monitors are the most important peripheral by far in my opinion, followed closely by mice. If you're not getting a 144Hz screen now, you'll want one eventually (you won't need one but you'll want one). The only other peripheral that is important for Overwatch specifically is a mouse. This is one of those what suits your style things and there's no real correct answer but for First Person Shooters you usually want a nice light fast mouse. Ideally with 2 buttons on the side of the mouse for binding melee and voice. Just don't get a Razer and you'll be fine.

I'd probably ask on /r/buildapc as well because they'll probably give you better advice than this sub will. Best of luck dude with your transition to PC. Hope this helps.

Edit: oh and Mousepad! In the beginning I'd reccomend a nice control style mouse pad for getting used to using a mouse for aiming. I can't reccomend you any though because I have always used the mats that come in WoW TCG boxes since a family member has heaps of them and I've never used any other control style mats. The bigger the better.

At work currently i'm using a steelseries rival. it was like 35? bucks. At home i use a logitech g700s.

Honestly the logitech is leaps and bounds above the steel series, but I just haven't gotten around to buying one for the office to use yet.

u/TheTsaku · 2 pointsr/pcmasterrace

I am currently with the Rival 100 mouse and I have fairly big hands (I am 6'2"). I use some kind of finger/claw grip and it's perfect for me. Here's the link: https://www.amazon.co.uk/SteelSeries-Optical-Gaming-Illumination-Buttons/dp/B015WKY3FU/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1499436895&sr=8-1&keywords=rival+100

u/Dr_Pointblank · 2 pointsr/GlobalOffensive

Rival 100 is like the Rival 300 but without some rubber and smaller side buttons. I really liked the Rival 300 and I think the Rival 100 will suit you well.

Lemme know if you have any quesitons.

Keep in mind that these prices are not final or the best available. PCPartPicker just takes whatever listings it finds on the internet. Generally, these parts are cheaper. There's also resources like /r/BuildAPCSales where you can find cheaper prices (more on that later).

Here is a guide on how to overclock the CPU in this build: http://overclocking.guide/asrock-z170-non-k-overclocking-guide/

Here is a benchmark of the CPU in TF2: https://youtu.be/JMb1Hr2nmJo

Min. FPS 105 | Max. FPS 287 | Avg. FPS 156
:----|----|:----
1920x1080|16:9|Fullscreen
Model detail: High|Texture detail: High|Shader detail: High
Water detail: Reflect all|Shadow detail: High|Anti-aliasing mode: 8x MSAA
Filtering mode: Anisotropic 16X|VSync: Disabled|Motion blur: Enabled

The GPU used in the video is more expensive. The RX 460 performance is comparable, is newer and has more VRAM. TF2 doesn't really care about the GPU, anyway.

Tweaking the settings and using some configs can easily get you more FPS.

Saving money.

As I mentioned above, /r/BuildAPCSales is a fantastic place to find deals on PC parts. There's a few things to keep in mind, though.

Parts you cannot replace from the list:

  • CPU
  • Motherboard

The CPU (i3-6100) has hyperthreading, which essentially means the CPU performs better. The motherboard was also the cheapest that supports overclocking, which extends the life of your PC. If you change one of these two parts, I cannot guarantee that they will work together or support overclocking.

Parts you can replace from the list:

  • RAM (Memory) (DDR4 only)
  • Storage (SSD and HDD)
  • GPU (Graphics Card)
  • PSU (Powersupply)

RAM must be DDR4, it's very easy to tell because it will always be in the title. Any RAM that is labeled DDR3 or DDR2 will not work with the PC.

SSDs are insanely fast. The caveat is that they are expensive for their GB size. Any SSD will work with the PC, so if you find a bigger SSD for a cheaper price, go for it.

HDDs are slow, but affordable in large sizes. The difference is that games on SSDs will load faster, while games on HDDs will load slower. Keep the games you want to load fast on the SSD, and other games, movies, music, etc. on the bigger HDD.

PSUs are tricky and I don't recommend picking a different one. The one I chose leaves room for upgrades, is easier to use and, most importantly, is reliable. A non-reliable PSU can destroy your PC. Trust me, just stick with the one I chose or ask /r/BuildAPC if another one you find cheaper is reliable.

    Peripherals

Good mechanical keyboard: TOMOKO 87 Key Blue Switch Mechanical Keyboard, $34.99 USD

Good gaming mice: Logitech G300s, $24.90 USD, SteelSeries Rival 100, $29.88 USD, Corsair Harpoon RGB, $29.99 USD

1080p, low response time monitor: Acer G226HQL 21.5", $89.99 USD

I'd say it varies slightly depending on your class and spec but anything with at least some thumb buttons should be solid for whatever you play.

I currently use a Steel Series Rival 100 and I have zero complaints. Before that I used a Razer DeathAdder and that lasted me something like 6 years.

u/TacticalHog · 1 pointr/buildapc

Gaming equipment doesn't have to be expensive thankfully

Currently using this mainly because there's so many sensitivity options

You can get the steel series rival on amazon for $39.99, and it is prime if you have it. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B015WKY3FU/ref%3Dcm_sw_r_other_awd_K3BJwbHWB2SNZ/
I have this mouse and love it, it is rgb.

SteelSeries Rival 100

Logitech g303

Those two are good mice that are at the top of your budget. Pro players use both.

If you want a cheaper mouse I know a guy with this one and he likes it.

I recently purchased a Deathadder Chroma and I love it. If you wanna drop another 15 dollars I recommend it.

u/stylus2vinyl · 1 pointr/buildapc

If you are looking to spend $30 on a mouse go with a reputable brand like Logitech, SteelSeries or Corsair.

u/dootleloot · 1 pointr/MouseReview

Games: CSGO, Overwatch (Primarily Overwatch)

Hand Preference: Right

Budget:: $30-45 CAD

Hand Size: Big, IDK i'll come back to this when I get home

Grip: Palm

Weignt: No preference

Sensitivity: Low in games, high otherwise

Additional details: I'd like for it to have some extra buttons on the sides, and either a DPI changing button, or an easy to use software to change my DPI

Currently looking at the Razer Deathadder Chroma (On sale) and the Steelseries Rival 100 (Also on sale, but it's been at this price for ages) I have a friend willing to sell me a Rival 300 for $50 CAD, but idk if that's worth it. Currently using this piece of shit. I don't have a mousepad and I am looking to buy one so if you can find a good mouse for under my budget let me know please. Thanks in advance.

I've got the Red Dragon as a backup mouse, and it massively sucks. Get a Steelseries Rival 100 https://www.amazon.com/SteelSeries-Rival-Optical-Gaming-Mouse/dp/B015WKY3FU?th=1

Not sure what your budget is but you can get a Rival 100 for $28, and they also have one in amazon warehouse for $20...

u/MRThundrcleese · 1 pointr/buildapc

the corsair saber is only $50 on newegg

the final mouse is a driverless mouse with one of the highest quality sensors you can buy. they save money by using an OEM housing. they are some of the lightest mice you can buy. every member of the finalmouse team is legendary eagle level or higher. its made by esports players for esports players.

the havit and red dragon look like ok entry level mouse. the build quality is suspect and they use unknown sensors. from a purely bang/buck they might be your best option as they are so cheap they only have to work.

if you want something a little nicer without breaking the bank, the corsair m65($45) or logitech g502($60) are great large mice.

the steelseries rival 100($34) is as budget as i can recommend. great build quality, and a great sensor for the money

u/ArbyCreeper · 1 pointr/pcmasterrace

CM Storm Quickfire is good keyboard. I would also recommend the steelseries rival 100 for the mouse. I have the Rival 300, and it works great. And basically the Rival 100 is a bit downgraded 300. It has up to 4000 DPI instead of up to 6500 DPI and the side button is not good as the 300 one, and the shape maybe bit different but that's about it. It has RGB lights, customizable buttons and DPI settings. When you play CS:GO it has a lighting profile where if you are running out of money, ammo, or your health is low, the light changes from Green to Red. think you would enjoy it.

u/billyc74 · 1 pointr/MouseReview

better than the Rival 100?

u/ItzzFinite · 1 pointr/buildapc

I enjoy my Steelseries Rival 100 which is super cheap. I'm sure there's plenty of other options though, but here's some if you don't want to look.

Okay, so since you are playing "competitive games": this matters, if you arent than all that matters is the luxury standards you will accept, in your case you want a mouse with the best sensor available for your price. which looks like 36$ (I dont know how much shipping will cost) Keyboard however does not exactly matter as much as long as it suits your needs and modern day keyboards do not have as bad ghosting anymore that it wouldnt hold you back, (unless you are playing starcraft with a million keybinds and apm) so any usb keyboard you want is fine, Mouses are usually a little more expensive for the added advantage they will give you in competitive gaming, but generally nowadays top mouses are ones with a 3310/3360/3366 sensors in them but there are a few which are still good for cheaper options such as the 3059SS, common unknown brandcheap amazon/ebay mouses will not feature any of these sensors and present a noticable disadvantage in game when compared to one of these and lack quality, Sorry for the rant.
TLDR:

Smaller mouse, popular loved, decent sensor, good price!

Bit bigger mouse, 2nd best sensor on the market, top 40 rated mouse, Newer, on sale!
1$ over budget https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00LZVNWIA/ref=s9_acsd_simh_hd_bw_bRCy5r_c_x_w?pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_s=merchandised-search-4&pf_rd_r=RNHYCH8QH7YGSGFZN8VM&pf_rd_t=101&pf_rd_p=92298731-558b-5a64-b47d-713bc9d1bdaf&pf_rd_i=402052011

If you can spare a couple more dollars I highly suggest you take the G402 fast. as I doubt this sale will last too long, but if your budget is really tight the SSR100 is not a bad choice! :)

Edit: typos.
