It's a thing.
The best part for me is that even the photo on the packaging looks like shit. They couldn't even get it to look good under ideal/photoshopped conditions.
From one of the amazon reviews:
>This product contains lots of glitter which gets everywhere

Bleche White has been the best thing ive used. just a few go round with the brush and all the brown is gone. https://www.amazon.com/Black-Magic-120066-Bleche-Wite-Cleaner/dp/B004YZUK02/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1520009768&sr=8-4&keywords=blechewite+tire+cleaner
I was thinking of this one. https://www.amazon.com/Chemical-Guys-ACC_3002-Contoured-Applicator/dp/B00BJCHTFW/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1478971029&sr=8-1&keywords=tire+applicator
Here's one that I've used with good results. There are quite a few others too. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00BJCHTFW/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_NjQQybQF5TYZ7
If it's been a while I'll scrub mine with Simple Green and a scrub brush. Then I use Meguiars Endurance Tire Gel. Best affordable stuff I've found locally. It goes on really easy and has a nice balance of not too shiny and not too flat.
Here it is on my car: PIC
Just started using the chemical guys applicator. Pack of 2 and holds up rly well. Used 1 for about 4 washes already and haven't needed to use the second yet. Looks durable so far and isnt overly absorbent that's its absorbing more product than its applying
Chemical Guys Acc_3002 Durafoam Contoured Large Tire Dressing Applicator Pad (Pack of 2) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00BJCHTFW/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_8r5pDb617VN7F
Sure! Will post results of oxiclean vs whatever else may be suggested. I've been wanting to settle this historic dilemma for some time lol.
This is a pic of the shoes with the whitewall tire cleaner. The cleaner is called Bleche-Wite by Black Magic, pronounced Bleach-White. You should be able to find it or something similar at any auto parts store. Pic is of a pair of shoes I found at a Goodwill about a month ago. Goodwill...I know. They looked like shit but seemed salvageable, so for $5 figured why not; could throw out if it didn't work. You can see the difference in the dirty front of the cleaned shoe vs how white it turned out. Also vs the level of dirt on the other shoe. One of the best lifehacks I've found in a while.
EDIT: Bleche-Wite. I paid $7 for the same size at a local parts store (NY, US), fwiw.
This stuff is awesome. You wash the tires when you wash the jeep. Let them dry. And then spray a nice coating on and leave it
I just Googled "subzero griptrax" since I didn't knew what it is and this is the first result, I love how people is still suggesting that it's a cheese grater.
When I had whitewalls on my Heritage I used this. with very good results.
Go to Amazon and order this (I like Meg's products),
This should run you about $345 for everything and have you setup to take care of your car for a long time. You can find a 20% discount code online for harbor freight to bring the price down $55 for the DA. Go to home depot and buy a couple buckets and you will be good to go.
Edit: To add, I went to Lowes and bought a cheap inline sprayer for my hose and it works fine for foaming up the vehicle, plus it only costs $5.
Edit2: If you are going to downvote me please post why you don't like my recommendation.
I've always struggled to keep my vehicles clean because 1) they were always old, 2) I've lived in condos, 3) car washes did a terrible job / detailers charged too much, and 4) I didn't realize you could do all of this yourself pretty effectively.
When I bought a new truck at the beginnging of the year, I randomly stumbled upon an Ammo NYC video and the nerd / clean-freak was intrigued. A couple dozen videos later, and I was hooked. Shout out to Larry for your passion - thank you for the insane amount of information on your channel. (Wish I could afford all of your products, or that you had some of them on Amazon!).
Living in a condo, I have to swing by my local coin wash and take up a bay with a few buckets during off-peak hours, but I've gotten it down to 1.5 hours and looking like this every time.
I've only been doing this for a few months, but thought I'd share the products I've researched and selected based on reviews and costs. Hope this helps save someone time!

they make markers that put (almost) permanent paint onto the tire. its basically just color inside the lines. buy them here: https://www.amazon.com/Tire-Ink-Permanent-Waterproof-Available/dp/B01MSJ0XZX
Those whitewalls are screaming for some Westley's.
I used Meguiar's endurance High gloss. Granted, some spots have heavy sun damage and i am waiting to apply subsequent coats to see if this will restore the shine in those spots as well. Some areas needed two coats to really see a change.

This looks like what I have my bottle is older (rarely used)
I'll report back after a few days to update!
Adam's Tire Shine - Achieve a Lustrous, Dark, Long Lasting Shine - Non-Greasy and No Sling Formulation (Combo) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07DXMBTD1/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apip_1tbwOEWCLfONs
I recently started using this and it makes things very easy.
Wait, wait, wait, I've got our girl Darcey covered. She's used to painting red on the bottoms.

if i want to be lazy, no touch tire spray https://www.amazon.com/Permatex-No-Touch-Tire-Care/dp/B000BO4Z06/ref=sr_1_5?ie=UTF8&qid=1525709071&sr=8-5&keywords=no+touch+tire+shine
when i'm not lazy, meguiar's high endurance gel https://www.amazon.com/Meguiars-G7516-Endurance-Tire-Gel/dp/B0009IQXJ0/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1525709232&sr=8-1&keywords=meguiars+endurance+high+gloss+tire+gel
bleche white and a scrub brush, no armor all, that's dangerous on smooth surfaces.
I've tried brushes and microfiber. They both have their flaws. I recently picked up a applicator pad from Adams. I'm liking it more and more. Definitely give this a shot. It seems to work very well on my aggressive sidewall tires.
Adam's Hex-Grip Pro Tire Dressing Applicator https://www.amazon.com/dp/B005DNJPSC/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_1x3ODbKA97JGD
https://www.amazon.com/Meguiars-G7516-Endurance-Tire-Gel/dp/B0009IQXJ0
Applied with a foam applicator, let set 15 minutes and wipe excess. No sling for me.
Nope, I've had this car since '04 and I've never done anything special to the wheels. This time I hit them with some of Mothers Tire and Wheel Cleaner that I've had forever.
Here is a link to the stuff (sorry for the long link, on mobile) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0007RDVH0/
This stuff:
Meguiar's G7516 Endurance Tire Gel - 16 oz. - Premium Tire Gel for a Lasting Glossy Shine https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0009IQXJ0/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_PMduDbMVJP53R
If it's already clean and you're just applying protections I'd go foam/sponge. I cut this into thirds so it's thin and easy to manage and it works great.
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B010CCFNYI/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Yeah it's a drag it wears off so fast. I have found Meguiars to stay a lot longer than others I've tried.
not sure if this is similar to your stuff but this is my favorite
These are cheaper than most floor mats and they work well. Could also be useful in muddy condition too. I've never had to use them for my own vehicle but I've helped a few people get unstuck with them.
Edit: link
I use this:

I don't remember where I found it, but there was something I read awhile back that Armor All actually causes your tires to end up in a worse condition putting this stuff on than if you would have done nothing at all. Basically the stuff they put in it is just like the stuff that they use for their interior spray which creates a greenhouse type effect (Lets heat/energy in but not out) and will brittle/dry out anything you use it on very quickly.
It was actually so bad that it started melting my ex's dash. I can't imagine (If this is still the case and I imagine it still is) that it's very good for your tires as that would make them more slick and cause them to deteriorate quicker than normal.
If i could recommend an alternative, Opti-bond Tire Gel and PoorBoys Tire Dressing Gel are great products that will do nothing of the aforementioned. But this is all just opinion/recommendation based on what i've read and witnessed
Thanks! wow, how did you know I was looking for advice on the rubberized undercoat ?
What do the readers think of this undercoating by chemical guys ?
How about Rustoleum's rubberized undercoat?
The 3M rubberized undercoat is great but rather expensive perhaps?
Which tire dressing applicator is better. adam's or chemical guys?

Nice. God the coupes are so pretty. I didn't like techno violet at first but it's grown on me.
The paint looks great but the trim could use some TLC, especially that front lip!
Get yourself some Forever Black trim dye. After you wash the car, clean the plastic with the provided cleanser and tape off where the paint meets the trim. Apply 2-3 thin coats. It'll make a HUGE difference in the look of the car.
Also invest in a wire tire brush and some good tire cleaner. You'll be surprised at how much dirt stays stuck on tire sidewalls and the difference a good cleaning makes! Of course spray your favorite tire dressing on and you'll be good to go!
I have always used this stuff for many reasons. It's cheap. It's basically strong soap, so it's not really toxic or scary ( like oven cleaner and break fluid ). I find it works just fine after a couple day soaking. Water and an old toothbrush do the trick. It's doesn't eat plastic like other cleaners. I just have an old Tupperware flat cake transporter I got at a yard sale. I can soak parts galore and 8 whole bodies.
http://www.amazon.com/BLECHE-WITE-TIRE-CLEANER-OZ/dp/B0016GXNME/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1453341572&sr=8-1&keywords=wesleys+whitewall+cleaner
Awesome! Thank you for the help.
For the Carpro Perl. Am i suppose to dilute it? Also for appying it do you recommend oine of these to apply it 1 2 3
I'm thinking #1 for applying the wax and #2 for the plastic trim.
I have 34" all terrain tires with plenty of knobs on the sidewall. This works wonderfully. I spray my tire dressing/shine onto it, dab it onto a handful of spots around the wheel, then spread. Works great, really easy on the hands, a little up/down on the knobs gets on and between them really quickly, and I don't get any overspray on the paint, ground, or wheels.

Been slowly building up 'maintenance' type supplies and think I'm on the right track but have a few questions. Here's what I've got:
And probably some other random stuff. Most of what I've listed above I haven't even used yet! So some quick questions!
We had both of our cars detailed a couple months ago by someone who has a small side business in our neighborhood, so they are in pretty good shape, and just want to keep them that way. At some point in the future, I may consider getting a DA but for now just want to get better at regular maintenance.
Thanks for reading this long-winded post!
Ok so when I first got my car I bought all kinds of new stuff based on "the best" according to my lazy Internet research anyway. So actually everything wound up perfectly except my two passenger side wheels, after I finished up I noticed they had some type of left over soap scum or film on it. I figured 'no problem just rinse it off', didn't work so I tried scrubbing, still there. I remember the instructions on my wheel cleaner saying to simple spray on the cleaner let it sit and 'Do its thing for a minute or two and rinse it off. The part I didn't see was the warning against washing in direct sunlight as the passenger side wheels were on the side facing the sun, so I think this is where I goofed up.
These are the wheels I have
And my mom says this stuff should fix my problem
All advice is welcome, also what product would work best for my wheels in the future.
Bleche-Wite is surprisingly good at softening up stuff like this so you can rinse it down the storm drain like a boss.
https://www.amazon.com/Black-Magic-800002222-Bleche-Wite-Cleaner/dp/B005R6LOZM
https://www.amazon.com/Westleys-800002224-Blech-Wite%C2%AE-Tire-Cleaner/dp/B006WDSS4E
This shit has been around since the 90s, it's how I cleaned the white letter challengers on my Celica. Spray it on, let it sit a minute, then wipe with an old rag or brush. Rinse the tire off with a hose or a bucket. That's it.
I bought their foam block (Adam's VRT Super Block Tire Dressing Applicator https://www.amazon.com/dp/B010CCFNYI/ref=cm_sw_r_other_awd_STp6wbCM17YGS) and it works just fine for me.
The handle on the applicator is definitely attractive, but not crucial.
Maybe try one of the gels, rather than a spray?
I use armor all gel with an applicator pad, and that method avoids any overspray or buildup in certain areas.
Worth a shot, anyway.
Or what might work is just applying the tireshine to the towel, first, then rubbing it on so you have precise control over where it goes.
Nice and shinny bro!

Check this out I use it on my tires it works through inclement weather and washes.
Tire Shine
Been out of the detailing game for a year, but I trust the people at autopia forums.
3.???
It's a bit higher priced now, but there are many like this one. This is what I got though.
Adam's Hex-Grip Pro Tire Dressing Applicator - Ergonomic Detailing Tool For Applying Tire Shine, Dressing Your Vinyl Rubber & Trim Accessories - Mess Free Application - Durable, Washable, and Reusable https://www.amazon.com/dp/B005DNJPSC/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_qdAHDbRZP1SSD
CG Bare Bones
This stuff
https://www.amazon.com/Armor-All-Extreme-Shine-ounces/dp/B000FOJSHW
Or something like this
According to multiple car review websites, THIS stuff from Meguiars is the best, but whatever looks best to you would be the best. I like my cheap ArmorAll tire foam
Edit: (unrelated) why the fuck would I have to approve my own comment?
Take APC I like using this diluted 50/50 with water and clean it.
https://www.walmart.com/ip/Seventh-Generation-32oz-All-Purpose-Cleaner-Free-Clear/14880166
And then use this on the rubber.
https://www.amazon.com/Adams-Polishes-SPRVRT-VRT-16oz/dp/B001QVG7MC
I️ have a hex logic tire shine applicator: Adam's Hex-Grip Pro Tire Dressing Applicator - Ergonomic Design Makes Detailing Your Tires Easier - Mess Free Application Tire Dressings - Durable, Washable, and Reusable https://www.amazon.com/dp/B005DNJPSC/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_ci8XAb5P1WQP5
Does anyone clean theirs? I’ve heard it’s a waste of any product that is potentially remaining in the applicator, but if you were to clean them, how should I️ go about cleaning it?
I would stick with a decent name brand tire and paint them with white wall tire paint. That way you aren’t sacrificing the safety and performance that you get with a proper brand name tire.
This is ridiculous. Soapy water, a garden hose and soft brush and rag along with some BLECHE WITE for the rims is all you need.
Personally, I wouldn't waste the money for an off-road vehicle.
But my Dad uses this stuff on his 1972 Grand Prix show / drag car and it's pretty incredible. Spray it on, walk away. Makes all the brown shit disappear pretty much permanently.
Just make sure it dries ALL THE WAY before driving anywhere, and don't apply it on your nice clean driveway, it'll stain the concrete.
