you can get the Bosch for the same price with infinitely more reliability.

I use a Leica D2 and it’s been really good.

I use the same one. It's great.

a life saver - no more messy tape measures
I'm on the case
The officer's observations and testimony are evidence. You need to counter that if you want to put forth a defense. This is the tint meter the cops use in my area. Pick one up, test your tint, and show the results to the court if you pass.
This is exactly what I've been looking at this morning
Im currently looking at this
I have a Leica Disto E7400x and it's amazing. Accurate to 1mm. Love this thing.
Tacklife Advanced Laser Measure 196 Ft Digital Laser Tape Measure with Mute Function Laser Measuring Device with Pythagorean Mode, Measure Distance, Area and Volume Black&Orange https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07P2JPLLW/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_B-8xDb53PAZYR
how about a laser measurer
Personally I’d just use a drill chart for the quick conversion. But if you need a recommendation I’d go with Leica.
Leica DISTO D2 New 330ft Laser Distance Measure with Bluetooth 4.0, Black/Red https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01D8HNPSK/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_c0V6Bb9SPVBDS

Swap the iFixIt out for their new model, it's MUCH nicer.
Other things I'd throw in:
While pricey, I'd also swap duct tape for gaffing tape. Terribly useful, rips easier and doesn't leave residue (unless you leave it there for a REALLY long time).
get a laser measuring device like this:
http://www.amazon.com/Bosch-DLR130K-Digital-Distance-Measurer/dp/B001U89QBU/ref=pd_sim_hi_7
Leica and a few other companies have made Bluetooth laser distance meters for years. You won't find them in Home Depot or anywhere like that though. They're marketed towards engineers. Also they're a teensy bit expensive:

No problem, glad it was helpful.
This the laser measurer that I use: Leica Disto E7100i
This is the case I mentioned: New Trent I recommend this case for every iPad.
Tacklife Advanced Laser Tape Measure 196 Feet Digital Laser Distance Measure with Mute Function Range Finder Digital Tape Measure with Pythagorean Mode, Area& Volume Calculation https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01D3263NE/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_MtW4yb97D210P
Is this a good one?
lego
or a disto laser measuring thingy

or a voucher for the RIBA bookshop
Well, I figured if I was going to recommend a tool I shouldn't recommend a crappy one. I found this one.
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0757K355X/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_taa_lfnJBbE5HWN0W
Much nicer and only 22 bucks. I'll be ordering one soon. The one I posted was a Christmas gift but oh well.
I used this one Tacklife Advanced Laser Measure but there are cheaper ones available.
It's like $10 and super nice. 9 pockets and place for cards. Also as a surveyor this laser measure is the best thing I've ever bought Tacklife HD40 Classic Laser Measure 131Ft M/In/Ft Mute Laser Distance Meter with 2 Bubble Levels, Backlit LCD and Pythagorean Mode, Measure Distance, https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01N9TCRJ4/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apap_EwXBMztMSStgj
It's been a while since I looked into this and I don't do it myself. I see people recommending this laser measure with bluetooth.
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00K5UDI5O/
I don't remember the apps recommended, but you can try a couple and find the ones that you think are best for you. I can't see it being difficult, but everybody is different. There are ones with 4 lasers which measure each room in one shot.
are you sure something like this isn't better suited for your needs?
https://www.amazon.com/Leica-DISTO-Distance-Measure-Bluetooth/dp/B01D8HNPSK
yeah there are lots of drone related surveying tools and apps. very expensive though.
They have a device that measures the amount of light that enters the device outside the glass as 100% and then measures the amount of light on the inside of the glass relative to the initial amount. If that readout is a lower percentage than what is legally allowed in your state for that window, then you may get a ticket.

Things that'll always be useful/consumable regardless of what kind of maker they are:
I think laser based sensors will be your best bet. The only one I have experience with is one that I pulled out of a Bosch GLM 20 laser measure. It took a bit of fiddling with to figure out what I need to pull out to get only the sensor and get it working properly once it was out, but once said and done it worked amazingly. The only down side is that it's a class 2 laser which will restrict it's uses if it will be fired around eye level. I would also recommend taking a look around to see if the FRC robotics kids have found any good solutions to long distance range finding since they are required to do things fairly cheaply.
Edit: changed some wording

> The only special about this is the app and touchscreen.
This one also adds one other cool feature that I Hadn't seen. It integrates a tilt sensor so you can use it as a level, but even more useful that lets you measure the height of an object simply by measuring two points on it from a fixed position.
It looks like Bosch offers a similar feature in their $114 equivalent, and it's also bluetooth enabled and has an app... So unless this one hits the market for ~$80 or so, I'd still probably stick with the Bosch.
If you add details such as number-of-bedrooms to an image-search, does that help? e.g.: https://www.google.com/search?q=dr+horton+homes+floor+plans&safe=off&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X
Have you tried contacting DR Horton?
I must confess that the last home-move, not having immediate access to my usual computer software, I just set excel cells to be square and used cell borders to create a floor plan using a cell per 10cm(~4"). I had the advantage of a laser distance meter, but I've noticed that one can get reasonable ones very cheaply these days
Well, if you can visit the building in person, you can get reasonably precise measurements with this or something similar. Not only will it give you point-to-point distance, it has a built-in function to get the height of an object that's not immediately nearby. It's just the pythagorean theorem of course, but it's convenient. And if you need distances greater than 120 ft, there's a more powerful version.
Not sure if she's into technology, but I love my Leica Disto.
