The one seen was a kickstarter sometime in 2018 from the looks of it. The same company made this which is pretty much it with an hourglass look.

It looks like the one I have isn’t made anymore, but this is a similar design. You have to set a fan blowing on it or the plate will burn out. I would trust this one more than any of the ones in the premade enclosures because you can verify and replace parts on it easily.

As others have mentioned, it’s not you, it’s the cooking of Indian food.
We flip houses so we are very proactive about Preventing Indian food smell from being absorbed in the house.
We have this issue too but have found the following things really help with preventing the smell from entering any bedroom:

  1. Make sure your bedroom and closet doors are closed when your mom is cooking.

  2. Buy a small room filter that you can keep in your room to help filter out the smell. The link below is one for $35 and it works really well. My son has allergies and it keeps his air filtered from pollen and dust.
    GermGuardian GG1000
    https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000G2BESO/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_kBJZCb5AV8GM8

  3. Politely ask your mom to make sure the exhaust is on when she cooks. This reason may be hard to explain without telling her that you are being made fun of because of the cooking smell sticking to your clothes. My husband and I also have a window exhaust we put up to make sure our house doesn’t absorb any smell. They can be found on amazon but are a bit pricier.

  4. Make sure and shower after the cooking is done.

  5. Keep an open box of baking soda (they are less then a dollar at any Walmart/ target) in your closet. It helps absorb smells that end up attaching to your clothes.

I am sorry you are going through this. I am also sorry for some of the negative comments on here- although most of them were helpful! I hope this helps.

Apparently the Kovoda Air Purifier:

https://www.amazon.com/KOVODA-Purifier-Anti-Gravity-Hourglass-Filterless/dp/B07H79VD2L/ref=sr_1_1?keywords=antigravity+water+drop&qid=1556555586&s=gateway&sr=8-1

The people in the video just removed the hour glass part.

It's $140 and is just a trick of the light.

for those wondering, that little black device is a sploofy.

I'd be concerned, as most areas it is code that a bathroom has to have a vent or a window. The humidity must be awful!

I would use one of those plug-in air cleaners (not freshener) https://www.amazon.com/GermGuardian-GG1100W-Pluggable-Deodorizer-Guardian/dp/B00OLBR0LG/ref=sr_1_7?keywords=plug+in+air+cleaner&qid=1573089179&sr=8-7

u/0io- · 2 pointsr/Asthma

You should go back in. Things like allergies and infections can make asthma worse. If you have indoor air-quality issues and a small place the little UVC air purifiers work great (for me, at least.) They kill mold spores before they can reproduce. (Could be the best $29 you ever spend). You can also try washing your sinuses and throat out with salt water. Read up on nasal lavage and jalai neti. If you're getting sinus infections frequently that can be a huge help too. Good luck to you! Hope you are feeling better soon!

And what you describe does sound a lot like asthma, so it's not an obvious misdiagnosis.

These little cup holder diffusers are fantastic. I picked one up over the summer, and I love it.

Buy an ozone generator like this one. Isolate each room and run it for the max amount of time, making sure that all doors/windows of the room are closed (for concentration) and no people/pets are in it. After the generator is done running, open the windows to let the ozone air out. Repeat for each room.

Depending on how bad the scent is, you may need to repeat several times.

u/newb_salad · 2 pointsr/Guitar

Ozone generators are used to get rid of smoke and other smells. Detailers use them cars. They work buy creating O3, an unstable molecule, then the extra O attaches to and oxidizes the smoke molecule, or something like that. Whatever it is, it destroys the actual smell.

Amazon has several including this cheap one: Fresh Air Commercial Air Purifier Ozone Generator 3500mg Cleaner Deodorizer (Silver) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01BKW300I/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_4gZ-zbP9RYXAE

But I'd bet theyre rentable to. Or put you're guitar in your car and have your car treated.

This is the one I have but it’s not available anymore. I’m sure you can find one similar. cargo liner

u/clankypants · 2 pointsr/AskWomen

I have 2 cats. I scoop their litter at least once per day and vacuum up any debris they track around. I also got a UV air purifier for their bathroom, which cuts down on the smell so much so that when I walk by the bathroom, the only time I can smell anything is if they've failed to completely cover their mess (without the purifier, I could smell every time they used their boxes). And after I replaced my carpets with hard flooring, cleaning up their hairballs/vomit is super easy (Nature's Miracle is my go-to).

There is a plug in air purifier for smaller to medium size rooms to start you off with something cheap. The filter is even to help rid cigarette smoke. Also, I understand that feeling. I dealt with that until I was able to move out. I'd also recommend politely asking them to not smoke in your room.

Febreze heavy duty plug ins are cheap and help with all types of odors, including smoke. The fabric spray can be spritzed on your clothes, definitely wash everything when you can. Also, does your dryer have a steam refresh option? If so, that would really help you before school. Takes a few minutes and gets rid of a lot of the smell.

I second keeping you door closed at all times and using a towel. You could also actually buy a protector for the bottom of your door to better prevent it getting in, these are also cheap on amazon. Keep your windows open as much as you can and open your closet door when you do.

I'm also putting another link for amazon for these charcoal eliminator bags. You can hang them in your closet or put them in your dresser. All of this will help a lot, but of course not fully rid of it. And if you're able to, don't wear your clothes around them while smoking. Change right before school. If they drive you, roll down the window or at least crack it. Hope this helps.

Edit - Don't over spray with cologne either. It can actually make the smell worse. Spritz 1-2 times on your neck depending on how strong the smell is. I'm a female and learned this the hard way with my perfume when in school.

Here is the first one I mentioned -

I second this. Lots available on Amazon or ebay.

I got this one:

works well..

Avoid this style:

I used one of these, I left the apartment(because you can't be there while they run) I had to return 5 minutes later I forgot something... this one was melting on the table where I left it... I don't want to know what would have happened in another 5 minutes.

It's probably a shaping issue, but as u/TripleSixStorm suggested I would reduce the hydration. What could also help is that I had them on a baking tray similar to this one for the final proof and I also baked them with it, so maybe that helped keeping their shape.

u/baffled_brouhaha · 1 pointr/LifeProTips

Travel humidifier. I get her one similar to this one.

Ashbringer Personal Mini Air Humidifier

I know she was very excited about it at first since hotels were so dry, but I think ended up having trouble finding somewhere to plug it in.

You can probably invest in an air filter for your apartment which would probably help some. Also, shoving towels under the doors works better than you would think. If you smoke in the back room with a towel under the bedroom door, and under the front door, that should help a bit.

On top of that, SmokeBuddies and [Sploofies] (https://www.amazon.com/Sploofy-Personal-Smoke-Air-Filter/dp/B01AUE9HRC) work amazing to keep the smell contained.

It looks like someone had a party, got stoned, then took their air freshener balls out to the desert to either fuck with people or because it was easy. I've been to a few parties that had these balls. They're just air fresheners. In fact, oh shit son, here we are.

What I can't stand is sensationalist, fear mongering bullshit.

u/Strangering · 1 pointr/yoga

Invest in a UV air purifier. I had a moldy bathroom and got sinusitis repeatedly last winter. This winter, pure health.

I still wake up with a congested nose though, which makes morning yoga impractical. Anyone have tips?
