I am pretty sure that the transformer is custom made for these bug zapper products. Custom wound transformers are cheap and easy to make in bulk.

Most of these bug zapper racket products have a similar design, but the transformer specs might be a little different. It's hard to know for sure.

To locate the bug zapper, I did a Google Image Search for "bug zapper red transformer". Once I realized that the bug zapper was these tennis racket things, I did a google image search for "bug zapper racket transformer" which shows the guts from several different models.

Google Image Search works really well for cutting through the noise of a normal google search, and let you quickly find an obscure item if you can recognize it visually. I use it all of the time when I am on a scavenger hunt for an item.

I then found this DIY website showing modifications of the racket to make a Tesla Coil, along with this YouTube video showing similar mods.

Based on the images of the racket, I then searched for the exact product on Amazon and ebay based on the molding details of the handle and racket:

ebay had the closest match. This looks like the same racket, but has a black handle instead of brown. They are $1.34 each.

Amazon has this racket which also looks the same, for $9.28

I then tried a Google Patent search to try and get a parts list, but I couldn't find a reference that looked specific enough or accurate. Being a Chinese product, it is hard to find specific patent info for cheap products like these.

I would guess that any of these bug zapper racket products will have a similar transformer, but if you were looking for an exact match, that was the closest that I could come up with.

Get yourself an Executioner Pro. I keep it by the bed and if I hear one of those fuckers buzzing around I wave it about until it makes contact with a satisfying bright blue spark and a loud SNAP. End of mosquito.

u/inferno10 · 8 pointsr/SanJose

Get one of these bug zapper wands. Makes quick work out of them.

u/digitalkimchee · 8 pointsr/gadgets

I live in a large house and with two dogs. I have to let them out a few times a day and flies are bound to get in. And once a fly gets in, it's very hard to keep them in control. I've tried swatting every one I can find, double bagging food waste, to not even keeping a trash can in the kitchen... I keep this out on the kitchen counter overnight.. and Problem solved! Indoor Insect Zapper!

u/morerobotsplease · 6 pointsr/LosAngeles

It was this one! Maybe I should leave a review. It took about a week for me to realize the mosquitoes were all gone. Little zapped bodies are inside so I know that's what did it.

u/PeptoBismark · 6 pointsr/boston

The bug zapper tennis racquet is very satisfying, gives a nice audible and visual zap when you connect. It just stuns those flies though, you have to follow up and squish them.

Edit : Looks like they upped the size and power since I bought mine, here's the new PRO version

u/bookchaser · 5 pointsr/Parenting

A photo would help. My first thought is eczema, but we can't see if its a pronounced/raised pimple-like mark (e.g., a bug bite) or something more akin to a rash. Eczema can produce isolated red marks which only get worse with scratching.

Also, look for a single, relentless mosquito. This bug racket is pretty good at getting the buggers in mid-air.

u/vsuontam · 3 pointsr/electronics

Use a coil and use higher voltage, something like 20000 volts.

They sell this "tennis racket bug zapper" which could give you hints:
http://www.amazon.com/The-Amazing-Handheld-Bug-Zapper/dp/B00008GS96

u/r00x · 3 pointsr/electronics

Nice! But like you can buy one that isn't lame for like under £20...

...Actually... hang on, isn't the very one you're using in that demo one of the good ones? It looks like this: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Sourcing4U-Executioner-Mosquito-Swatter-Zapper/dp/B003TT3GDC

I have one of these and it's fucking excellent right out of the box. Bugs fucking explode when it touches them, usually with a loud CRACK.

u/SilverGhost93 · 3 pointsr/nova
u/CryptoVaper · 3 pointsr/electronic_cigarette

That's nothing. How does my bug zapper get over 2000 volts out of two AA batteries?

u/supferrets · 3 pointsr/electronic_cigarette

We get them every summer too. Pouring bleach down every drain helps immensely. Wine/vinegar traps catch some of em, the rest get blown to hell with the Executioner Pro

u/weender · 3 pointsr/drunkvapes

the creepy thing on the couch is iron man. I think he's jerking it. When I went back to the room to check on what was happening, the wasp moved. It's still alive. That tennis racket is this: http://www.amazon.com/Battery-Operated-Tennis-Racket-Shaped/dp/B003U55W6Y

I just zapped it again. Hit with the racket and then put the racket on top of it. I shall go back and zap again and again until it doesn't move.

u/mycatmycat · 3 pointsr/WTF

Apparently they're sold everywhere, Walmart, CVS, etc. I just ordered this http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00008GS96

I'm fucking excited. I might order a second one and tie them together to make nun chucks.

u/HansJSolomente · 3 pointsr/LifeProTips

Friend of mine got a bug zapper racquet while in Uganda - found them in Niger, then on Amazon. Got a couple in Wal-mart for my in-laws.

They won't attract the mosquitos, but if you find that YOU attract mosquitos, these things kill them and give you a feeling of smug satisfaction.

u/Kardolf · 3 pointsr/preppers

I've been in situations where a good light was suddenly needed, and invariably, a couple of lights was a better choice than a single. For the size and weight, I would put a couple of these in the bag. Since they are not very big, I tend to carry a couple in my bag. They take standard AA batteries, so are easy to replace, if needed. They are bright enough to do most things, and cheap enough that if you lose one, it's not the end of the world. You can use rechargeable batteries or primaries, with good reliability.

By no means are these the best lights available, but I've had good luck with the style as just pure emergency lights. I've got them in my gloveboxes, door pockets, go bags, CERT bags and camping kits. If someone needs a light, I don't have to give out my good lights, but can still help out.

u/RoshansBFF · 3 pointsr/Aquariums

Containers like this are very nice. My LFS sells them for this use or you could easily find them on amazon.

u/FJCruisin · 2 pointsr/Connecticut

ok so it's probably not really effective at stopping very many of them.. and our entomologist from elsewhere in the thread would be angry... but these http://www.amazon.com/The-Amazing-Handheld-Bug-Zapper/dp/B00008GS96 are alot of morbid fun. bzzt bzzt.

There's a more powerful version available too but if it's indoors and you need that kind of power you've got bigger problems

u/gotsmallpox · 2 pointsr/IWantToLearn

Get this and enjoy your revenge.

u/UP10TION · 2 pointsr/mildlyinteresting

We had fruit flies for about 7 years and nothing got rid of them, finally bought this bug zapper an have been fly free for 1 year now.

Also, protip, use those Kikoman soy sauce bottles to put vinegar in. They look cute on the counter and are really good at trapping the flies. That's what we did before getting the zapper.

u/DontMentionLobsters · 2 pointsr/melbourne

Those are wonderful, but the fucking thing is, flies here are so damned fast.

I'm used to the wasp plague we had in Berlin last summer, which is why I got mine. Those bastards are slow and predictable.

I think I've just moved up to the next level. I'm just worried about what the boss fight will look like.

N.b. I tried several and this type seems to work best, compared to the ones with the cross-patterned wire mesh (stronger charge, somehow). Zot. Pow.

u/Mattallica · 2 pointsr/funny

I found one on amazon but couldn't find the one pictured, that's one 8 years old

http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00008GS96/ref=redir_mdp_mobile

with a little research, I'm sure you could find one that's less expensive

u/CompassionateCedar · 2 pointsr/BDSMcommunity

If you want to use them as a paddle use the ones that look like this:
https://www.amazon.com/Elucto-Electric-Mosquito-Batteries-Included/dp/B01F3N8A4Q

The newer ones that are shielded like this one will not shock out of the box but the electronics can be used for other projects.
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07D6WJ3KJ/ref=sbl_dpx_B01F3N8A4Q_0

Oh and don't but them on amazon, they are about £3-5 in a store

Ma raquette The Executionner Pro à 19,99€ chez Amazon pour tuer les moustiques avec encore plus de meurtre

J'adore ce truc. Tous les étés j'apprécie l'investissement.

u/r4bblerouser · 2 pointsr/RedditDads

if youve got the newer S you can get one cheap off amazon. I got this one http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00B0QONB0/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o05_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 and its worked perfectly.

Also, all the HDD's are is a 2.5" Sata hard drie in an enclosure. you can get the enclosure for like 3 bucks online, pop any HDD thatll fit into it and it should work fine. the enclosure lines up the HDDs connections to the port inside the xbox, and holds it in place once its seated.

You will thank me profusely later.

There are versions with rechargeable batteries, get that kind.
This is the only thing that saved me when dozens of mosquitoes got into the house at night.

u/ghostphantom · 2 pointsr/NoStupidQuestions

You could get a bug vacuum like this one. That one has a pretty long arm so you wouldn't have to get too close. I use an electric flyswatter (I found one at a hardware store for like $5 and it works perfectly, you can actually smell the bugs burning when you zap them) in my house for any and all creatures with more than 4 limbs.

u/NeverTheOP · 2 pointsr/BuyItForLife

This one works awesome and is relatively inexpensive

Bug zapper is for annoying human pest types and they really don't do a good job, again telling the bugs, come here. They also shoot bug guts all over the place, so not what you want while grilling. That's why stores stopped using them. They have grill lights for this exact thing. The low lights are great for not falling over stuff on a pathway, not much help above shins. I have one of those headlamps for when it's dark out. You look like a total tool, but they work really well. I used it when the power was out last hurricane. If you have an umbrella out there, those $4 flashlights on amazon put out a ton of light, shine into the top to reflect light.

A few years ago, some yellow-jackets built a nest inside the wall of my house. They were getting in and out through an unsealed crack between two boards in the external siding. I initially thought of just sealing the crack, but wasn't sure what would happen with all those live wasps inside the wall. I then remembered my wife had purchased a handheld bug zapper. Frying the little bastards as they tried to fly in or out of the nest was wicked fun, and I laughed maniacally as I cooked the little demons. There must have been 100 dead wasps on the ground at the end of the day. I later sealed the siding crack and they never came back.

10/10 would fry again.

Adding things I forgot!

  • Logitech harmony remote - this is an awesome multi-purpose remote that can smart switch hdmi inputs, control TV, dvd players, cable boxes, fire tv stick, act as a (limited) wii remote and tons of other stuff.
From the app / desktop you program in 'routines' so I have 'dvd' set to 'turn on tv, set hdmi to 1, hdmi switcher to 2, turn on dvd player and remote controls dvds. 'TV' turns on tv to hdmi 2 + the tv box which remote controls, 'fire tv' turns on tv to hdim 1, hdmi switcher to 3, fire tv stick on & remote now controls that.
This also works via alexa (to some extent), so 'alexa turn tv on' would run the tv routine above, and 'alexa pause' can pause the tv/dvd, or use her to control the volume etc. This gave my mum much more control of the tv as before she could never work out what remote you needed let alone getting to the right hdmi if the dvd had been on etc.
  • Fire TV stick - another alexa heavy resource; but fire tv is voice controllable via any linked-account alexa. There's a list of commands here as I'm not 100% sure what works through this and what uses the harmony link from above!
  • Other smart home stuff - again this is an area more commonly known, so you might already have or be aware of these things but smart heating, smart roller blind adapters or even things for curtains are all out there for voice activated setups. There's also a cool little device called 'switchbot' which is basically a motorized switch presser you can stick on an existing switch to make it 'smart' - duno what if anything that could be used for, but it could add yet another voice activated option for her to gain more control over her own environment.

And bonus thought - you can get window bird boxes so birds will come right up to a window which could be a great gift!

Indoor bug zappers are cheap. They don't work on mosquitoes so much, but they do work extremely well on most other insects. I couldn't believe how many fruit flies they killed the first night I had them.

For mosquitos, I have to agree with the other posters: Seal up any openings and run a fan in the room.

I managed to solve the problem by chance. I grow an organic garden by my pool and we had bugs destroying our tomatoes. I started using a bug zapper by night to get them without using pesticides and it ended attracting beetles as well. For some reason they prefer to go to the zapper's lamp instead of the pool. This is what it looks like: https://www.amazon.com/KAPAS-Mosquito-Electric-Control-Commercial/dp/B07GX76ZMN .It's not exactly the same product that I use but it's similar.

SAY HELLO TO MY LITTLE FRIEN'!!!

  1. Electric tennis racket bug zapper. The zap/sizzle is very satisfying. About $10usd. Also at Harbor Freight.
  2. Pocket flask.
  3. Really good insulated thermos, like Stanley brand. I like cold drinks in the summer.
  4. Ostrim ostrich jerky from Amazon. Because "Arr Arr Arr!"
  5. I fix things myself around the house. My cordless Ryobi 18v drill with lithium batteries is great. I think I use that tool the most. After owning it for 5 years, it broke. They replaced it for free.
  6. LED headlamp leaves your hands free for fixing stuff around the house and for camping.

I cannot recommend this enough. Will only stun the big wasps, but then you can go in for the kill (stamp) or cook (electrocuting them to death).

If price is your primary concern, don't buy a $250 bundle. You can get a new 4GB for $179.

While the hard drive is very nice, you can buy a 320GB third-party one for around $50. And if you can't afford it right away, that's okay, you can use USB drives for your storage device as well.

If you want something for less than $180, you are most likely looking at waiting for Black Friday, or combing craigslist for deals on used consoles.

u/motney · 1 pointr/WTF

Just got back from a week of camping in 110 degree (f) weather and I wish I had a stash of those. We did have some of these which are fun but rely on human accuracy to be effective.
