You can but have to wear one of these and be scoring the game so random strangers don't take this as an invitation to become your new best friend
i find even with MLB subscription, the wifi in the SkyDome is too spotty to use for streaming and why use the data when you can just pick up a small portable radio
listening to the actual AM broadcast has no delay whatsoever.. and if you are far in the outfield, you can hear the crack of the bat on the radio before you hear it in the park - its pretty neat
I even take a little radio to the games with me to listen to Vin.

I use the dodger promotional earbuds they gave away earlier this year. It's perfect.
I use a Kaito KA200 radio when I'm outside but I mostly use a Sony ICF-S10MK2 at home. The Mets broadcast only through AM radio but in 2013-14, they were broadcast on WFAN's FM simulcast which made the broadcast very clear with less static than AM radio.
what about taking this:
http://www.amazon.com/Sony-ICF-S10MK2-Pocket-Radio-Silver/dp/B00020S7XK/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1393720974&sr=8-1&keywords=small+am+radio+with+speaker
and pairing it with one of these:
http://www.amazon.com/Cycling-Bicycle-Silicone-Flashlight-Ribbon/dp/B00CBT76TG/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1393721000&sr=8-1&keywords=silicone+bicycle+mount
bam! bike mounted am radio w/ speaker.
edit: I just noticed, we have the same bike!
Invest in a good radio (assuming you're in the Bay Area)! I picked this one up at my local Fry's, and it's been great. I just pull it up on my desk, plug in my ear buds, and listen away.
So I am currently thinking of something like this then: http://www.amazon.com/Stanley-RST-63012-Hearing-Protector-Digital/dp/B00H27E6NQ/ref=pd_cp_267_3?ie=UTF8&refRID=10AR1G5TPRMZS39FS65E
Portable radio is such a mature product and technology I think you'll be fine as long as you choose a decent brand. I've seen battered, paint and dust covered 30-year old Sony radios still keeping tradesmen entertained on building sites. Models that looked similar to this one for around $89. I would even hazard a guess that you could go cheaper:
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0016OEV7C/ref=olp_product_details?_encoding=UTF8&me=
I would say sticking to manual dial and buttons is also going to help with durability and reliability as opposed to a LED/LCD screen with station-seeking features.
This one. Small, portable, lasts a long time on one set of betteries.
You want a tour guide audio transmitter/receiver pack like this. Extra receivers here.
Whenever I am at the park, I bring This with me. My gf also has one, its cheap and very good. Only problem with the AtBat app is how delayed the plays are. With the radio I can hear KNBR on every play. Its great.
Unsolicited advice: buy sound reducing earmuffs- they're designed to muffle sound. Then if you want to listen to music get music capable earmuffs or stick any $10 pair of earbuds underneath.
I have tried fancy noise-cancelling headphones, but contrary to what you think they're not designed to make things quiet. They're designed to mitigate any errant sound to make what you're listening to sound better. So if there's a small sound or a quiet conversation, it can reduce that. But if it's loud, they won't work. Get something designed to mitigate loud sounds.
My work gave me some hearing protection, and that's what I use (with cheap earbuds underneath) while mowing the lawn and I haven't looked back.
The tried and true Sony Walkman.
I did you one better and found the "weather radio" version. If there's a tornado or earthquake or something else, you can automatically turn into the National Weather Service frequencies and listen to updates for your area. Emergency news is usually broadcast on AM radio as well, so this particular Walkman has you covered. Best of all, it runs on a single battery, so you can listen for a long time on a pack.
EDIT:
But if you want a more portable version that also has a hand crank, antenna and a built-in flashlight, I recommend this model.
Can't go wrong with this. Are you in the UK? Here is a nearly identical Sony model on Amazon UK. They are cheap, hopefully not too bulky.
whole wishlist
I'm entering both and might I saw both of you look as nice as rain in a desolate desert :)
Dreaming Big with this is the want/need
C'mon...gimme
You are amazing
Try this
No lag, uses easy to find batteries, handy for listening to ball games on the deck. Don't make it more complicated than it needs to be.
You have you work? There's always the radio. I miss driving around doing my errands in the evening whilst listening to 1090AM. Also, I bought a brand new radio to take to the pool this summer so I'm excited about that too. My 30 year old Realistic finally crapped out.
I prefer the Sangean DT-180 AM/FM radio. I go to 30+ games a year. Listened to the game on the DT-180 at each one since the beginning of the 2014 season. Works beautifully. Instantaneous play-by-play. It's difficult to enjoy a game the same way without it.
Sangean DT-180 AM / FM Pocket Radio https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000G6M91G/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apip_h5wSFTXqatbsm
Some tips using it:
I bought one of these puppies when I can't stream or it's blacked out. Works like a charm, 12 bucks.
http://www.amazon.com/Sony-ICF-S10MK2-Pocket-Radio-Silver/dp/B00020S7XK/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1396643975&sr=8-1&keywords=radio
One of these will work wonders.
I've had the Sony SRF-59 pocket radio for years and years and I love it. Single AA battery lasts forever.
The AZSports apps aren't allowed to carry MLB broadcasts
Personally I would just buy a basic AM/FM radio. I use this one and it works great. Will save GBs from your data plan too
Retekess L-288 AM FM Stereo Radio Bass Radio with Wireless MP3 Player Speaker AUX Input Support TF Card Sleep Timer (Black)

This thing was cheap and great
Forgot I had this, but now this is my only stream.
Edit: For anyone interested in this contingency plan, it's only 11 bucks on Amazon.
Check this badboy out, great reviews
Look at the used list from the universal-radio.com site. Try to ignore 1990's-era design--this is a good site that sells enthusiast and professional-grade radios. Go down and explore your options for radios within your price range.
The Grundig G8 Traveler is good, as well are many other older, tried-and-true Grundig models.
Almost anything from Crane is good. I bought one of these as a gift (actually got a lightly-used one through universal-radio.com), and it has reception like you wouldn't believe. FM was perfect, and the AM reception was so good, you wouldn't mind listening to AM music.
Sangean also makes some famous pocketable models.
Oh, and always try and read reviews on radio enthusiast blogs. Check out the comments here for some very useful commentary on pocketable radios.
edit: Here's a nice review of the Sangean DT-400W. I'd go either with it or the DT-200VX if you're looking for something that's pocketable.
Most sets with integrated radios are like this and are probably not good for exercise. Something in the Sony SRF line (SRFH4, SRFHM33, etc) would work if you can find it
I wanted a radio for my walks. It needed a belt clip, great reception, good build and easy to change stations. What I found isn't retro, but it's a great little radio. Cheap, too.
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00006HOKR/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
The Sony ICF-S10MK2 pocket radio. It's a cheap $10 Sony radio, but I've been so impressed with it that several of my friends have purchased it. It's loud enough to listen while showering. The battery life has been amazing. Two AA batteries will last a few months of daily use.
This little radio was a lifesaver during Hurricane Sandy due to the incredible battery life. Here is the product on amazon:
http://www.amazon.com/Sony-ICF-S10MK2-Pocket-Radio-Silver/dp/B00020S7XK/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1380684513&sr=8-1&keywords=sony+radio
I haven't brought it to the ballpark but I have one of these. Simple and works well.
that Sony ICF-S10MK2 is pretty much the best radio i've ever owned.
I picked up one of these last year: https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00408K36Y/ref=mp_s_a_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1491357326&sr=8-1&pi=AC_SX236_SY340_QL65&keywords=kaito+ka200&dpPl=1&dpID=41icnKYdKnL&ref=plSrch
It's super tiny, very pocketable, and has a headphone jack. It's super handy.
Why so much focus on FM radio?
I don't think anything decent since the Zune and Cowon that's had an FM radio built in. Why not just buy another Cowon? They are still available NIB on eBay, and batteries are available all over the place.
Otherwise, just buy something like this and use whatever other PMP you want.

Take your phone and hold it pointing in the same position as the spy camera and take a pic, then print out the pic and put the pic in front of the camera.
Now take a cheap fm pocket radio like this and put it on a crap station and place the radio next to the camera.
just picked up one of these.
def wont fit in your pocket but the thing is loud as hell. uses 4 AA batteries or you can plug it in and use it at home. gets the job done.
had this one before but volume really sucked and could barely hear it at dodger stadium.
http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00020S7XK/ref=mp_s_a_1_1?qid=1410610220&sr=8-1&pi=SY200_QL40 have one of these in every bob. Great radios and pretty solidly built.
You could, um, get a radio. They are pretty cheap these days. Or for fancy-pants listening, there's some FM earbuds that have a companion iPhone app for choosing the station.
At Dependable they have you tune into a radio station. Often times the sheer amount of other people playing the station means you can sit outside of your car and still hear fine. The last few times I went I put an air mattress in the bed of my truck and used a personal battery powered radio to tune into the FM station.
Similar to this, but just one I had from years ago.
https://www.amazon.com/Rolton-Portable-Speaker-Player-Display/dp/B01I8ZU7EM/ref=sr_1_4?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1500901055&sr=1-4
But the MLB app or get this
Ok, so something like this would not work?
http://www.amazon.com/Airsoft-Element-Headset-Kenwood-Radio/dp/B00HYCZ84U
Oh. You didn't say clock radio. That's hilarious. You should get a little transistor. This is the one I use.
Honestly this is the best cheapest highest rated radio. You can't go wrong with this. It's great to listen to games, have around the house, in case of storms etc.
https://www.amazon.com/Bosch-PB360C-Jobsite-Charger-Digital/dp/B015XPRYS2/ref=dp_ob_title_hi
This one is pretty good, we had one for our team. Not sure what your price range is. If you charge it the night before the battery should last you a whole day, and the bars that surround it protect it a little from taking a beating.
Radios still exist...
Not sure what it's called but I did find this on Amazon after a little searchy poo

I've got this radio last season listening to games while I'm working. http://www.amazon.com/Sony-ICF-S10MK2-Pocket-Radio-Silver/dp/B00020S7XK
It's slightly bigger that most pockets but a great radio.
Your phone might have an FM tuner. If not check this one out. Looks like it belongs to museum, but works good according to the reviews.
hawehaweehawee
A walkman radio, from the looks of it.
I got a couple of these plus some stereo-to-mono single earbuds and we use them at games for listening to KNBR. The elastic arm band is flimsy so I just drop the radio in a shirt or jacket chest pocket and it works fine. We tried using one pocket radio with a Y-connector to use two sets of earbuds but whenever some guy in the middle of the row wanted to go for a beer or whatever it was awkward. If a radio like this works for a couple of seasons and then fails, it's so cheap it's no big deal. A single earbud allows you to hear surrounding sounds too which is nice, I use it when I'm on our exercise machine so I can hear if the phone rings or whatever.

The [Sawyer Mini water filter] (http://www.amazon.com/Sawyer-Products-SP128-Filtration-System/dp/B00FA2RLX2/) is smaller, can be screwed onto standard disposable plastic water bottles, and is capable of filtering far more water since you can reuse it. If you pick up a [stainless steel water bottle] (http://www.amazon.com/Klean-Kanteen-40oz-Classic-Loop/dp/B0093IRPSA/), you can boil water in it as well.
You should always have a backup when it's a survival situation; [Israeli water purification tablets] (http://www.amazon.com/Taharmayim-Israeli-Water-Purification-Tablets/dp/B0077TB65U/) will both look legit and be legit if she actually needs to use them.
There are always more items you might add to a first aid kit, but [this one is pretty well rounded] (http://www.amazon.com/Adventure-Medical-Kits-Weekender-Kit/dp/B000G7YIL4/). If you want a cheaper base kit (i.e if you want to add your own items), [this other kit] (http://www.amazon.com/Adventure-Medical-Kits-Tripper-First/dp/B0033B4I9C/) will also do the job.
Battery-free lights can be good, but AA batteries are common enough that a [good tactical light that takes AAs] (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B006O4CELO) might be a more convenient option.
If she has a tablet (if tablet, go for the 12W) or E-reader (7W), [solar power might be an option] (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00F3LPODY). With [rechargeable AA batteries] (http://www.amazon.com/Panasonic-BK-3MCCA8BA-Pre-Charged-Rechargeable-Batteries/dp/B00JHKSN5I) and a [USB recharger] (http://www.amazon.com/SunJack-Battery-Charger-Ni-Mh-Batteries/dp/B00PZ6V99U/), the flashlight and any other AA device (like a [small, separate radio] (http://www.amazon.com/Sony-ICF-S10MK2-Pocket-Radio-Silver/dp/B00020S7XK)) could work indefinitely, as well as any regular USB-charged device.
[ResQme] (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000IE0F12/) may not be strictly zombie-related, but if you buckled up as per Rule #4, you may want a way to quickly exit your vehicle if your seatbelt jams and the windows and door won't open normally.
There are a lot of compasses out there, but [this one] (http://www.amazon.com/Suunto-SS012063013-A-10-Compass/dp/B000FEXZGW) is simple, reliable, and won't break easily. It's also designed to be laid over maps without getting in the way of reading them.
[Pocket chainsaw] (http://www.amazon.com/Chainmate-CM-24SSP-24-Inch-Survival-Pocket/dp/B0026OOS60). Won't be useful against zombies, but if you ever needed to cut a tree or thick branches and don't want to carry an axe...
...You can also carry a [hatchet] (http://www.amazon.com/Fiskars-78506935-X7-Hatchet-14-Inch/dp/B0002YTO7E/) instead. This one has a short blade, which will cut into their heads and not get stuck like others. It'll also do a fine job cutting smaller branches.
For non-zombie/woodwork related tasks, the [Victorinox Forester] (http://www.amazon.com/Victorinox-Swiss-Army-Grip-Series/dp/B003EH82TC/) has your bases covered.
You should also include World War Z (the book, and the movie if you'd prefer), I Am Legend (both the book and the film), and the Walking Dead series (TV, comics, and both seasons of the Telltale game series on Steam).
>Have you considered a small portable radio that has a stereo headphone jack? You could connect the headphone output to the amp's input.
Yes, I have, but would that be the best option? I'd rather have something that looks halfway decent on my shelf, and most portable radios probably don't.
>"Real" component tuners would work fine of course, but would probably be too big where you're trying to use it.
What do you mean by a real component tuner? Can you link me to an example?
>The only issue I see is that the SA-50 only has one input, so you'd need to add an external RCA selector so that you chose which input signal to use with the amp.
Honestly, I'm fine with just switching out the cable. I don't need a radio so often to where I would need the convenience of a switch. It's a cool idea, though, and one I might capitalize on later.
Or a $10 radio.
https://www.amazon.com/Memorex-MR4240-Portable-Pocket-Radio/dp/B01DFZ8K9O/ref=sr_1_15?ie=UTF8&qid=1506553307&sr=8-15&keywords=fm+radio
Funny thing about that: When hurricane Sandy hit, I tuned in to the local FM radio station (which I usually don't listen to because it's a lot old guys waxing ignorant about politics, and repetitive music).
The first thing I heard when I switched on the radio? "Well, if you're tuning in to us to find out what's going on... we don't know either. Our internet is down, our cable TV is down, and our phones are down. And that's all of the ways we get our information."
So, it was pretty useless.
Also, a cheap battery powered AM/FM radio or even a crank-powered model, is going to be a lot more efficient and reliable in an emergency than a smartphone sucking down battery searching for a cell signal, that also happens to have an FM receiver in it.
