That’s awful :( as someone who has an extremely nosey family, I feel you. I personally would suggest going onto amazon and buying this lock box it might not be the most hidden, but it stores easily under your bed or in your closet and no one can open it unless they have the key. It fits tons of toys! I have a good 10-15 in mine. Good luck!

u/daeedorian · 16 pointsr/guns

Pro tip: Hang a shoe organizer in your safe for pistols.

u/DrugsAreMagic · 13 pointsr/DrugsOver30

I have 3 kids, so this is important to me. Along with a crap ton of drugs I have a healthy collection of sex toys. This is what I use to store it all https://www.amazon.com/dp/B005JCZI5G

It rolls under the bed, and locks. Works great.

u/crankypants15 · 10 pointsr/sex

They make locking boxes for CDs (with folders) and other uses. They are big enough for a fair collection. They make empty boxes too. Get one. These are cheaper than a firesafe.

Have you tried a fabric bedside storage caddy? I've known plenty of people who use them to hold all of the things you'd need it to hold. As long as you're not putting a heavy metal water bottle, it should be fine. They're only around $10-$15.

(As a bonus, I'm going to highly recommend that you consider purchasing a 10 foot + phone charger so that you can use your phone as an alarm in your lofted bed without worrying about battery :)

hey, i’m in the same boat! haha. one thing i would say to buy is a small lightweight vacuum. there’s one at bed bath & beyond that’s $25 right now, which is a steal imo. also, get a first aid kit. i didn’t realize how much i needed bandaids in my life before i got a cut on my finger when i was living away from home and couldn’t get a hold of a bandaid for the life of me.

if you don’t have the space for a nightstand or just don’t want to buy one, i totally recommend a bedside pocket organizer. i keep my phone, water bottle, ipad, everything in there. https://www.amazon.com/Sugaroom-Bedside-Storage-Organizer-Hospital/dp/B07H4XKK4F/ref=mp_s_a_1_4?keywords=bedside+organizer&qid=1562789751&s=gateway&sprefix=bedside+or&sr=8-4

I haven't seen it in plastic yet but they exist for about 15$ already. So their 35$ price should probably come down. And 75k sounds reasonable to launch a product to me.

For kitchenware of all kind, I'd recommend a goodwill-type store. Cheap and quirky.

Personally, a table and 2 chairs would be nice for work/homework/dinner. I got a folding set at Target for $40 a while back; I have a nicer wooden set from craigslist for $60 now.

From experience, you're better off buying a real mattress for comfort. People can sit on it when they visit, especially if you have some cushions that make it appear a seating area during the day. I am perfectly happy with the mattress on the floor, no boxsprings or frame, but having it higher off the ground would make it more comfortable for seating during the day.

Do you need a dresser? If you have a good-sized closet, you may be able to use something like this instead for anything you can't put on hangers -- I found some for around $5 at Target recently.

This, under the bed, with towels lining it and keeping the toys separate from each other.

u/noeinan · 4 pointsr/dysautonomia

Sad thing is, all of this is 100% more than possible with our technology but nobody's invested in making us that comfortable T_T

Real talk tho, the blog Not Done Living has great advice for us bedridden folks!

I've found that having a day bed or recliner plus night bed helps a ton, and keeping a [multi-layer cart](3-Tier Utility Rolling Cart with Large Storage and Metal Wheels for Office,Kitchen,Bedroom,Bathroom,Black 130839 https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07DD9B6WP/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_AyFnDbPCXE0QS) next to you to store all the things is very useful.

Make sure the cart is somewhat heavy-- I made the mistake of first getting a very cheap light one, but you can't hang anything from it. For the one I linked above, which I saved up and got eventually, I use a [cloth hanging pocket](Surblue Caddy Hanging Organizer Bedside Storage Bag for Bunk and Hospital Beds, Dorm Rooms Bed Rails(8 Pockets) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B06XWN5CVF/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_sAFnDb7CD99XB) to hang my laptop and small things like pens (I just had to cut a small fabric divider in the inside) and some [hanging organizer trays](2Pack Dormitory Bedside Storage Baskets, YIFAN Mesh Origanizer Caddy for Books Phones Drinks Office Home Table Hanging Organizer Desktop Corner Shelves - Black https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0714HTQ9H/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_hBFnDbFAR3P8P) for extra storage.

It actually helps a ton to have more stuff in arms reach, and keeps your lap and chair/bed less cluttered. For my bed, I have a cheap metal four poster thing, with bars connecting the posts. Not weight bearing, but good enough to hang a [few things](mDesign Metal Wire Cabinet/Wall Mount Hair Care & Styling Tool Organizer - Bathroom Storage Basket for Hair Dryer, Flat Iron, Curling Wand, Hair Straightener, Brushes - Holds Hot Tools - Bronze https://www.amazon.com/dp/B074JCKXFF/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_HCFnDb36WJH90) from bungee cords.

Then just attached a medicine cabinet to the wall by my bed, though honestly they get full so fast. >< I need to get rid of all the old meds I don't use.

u/ScotchMcBagpipe · 3 pointsr/AskTrollX

Shoe organizer - over the door ones with pouches like this. I use them in my bathroom. Not the greatest thing to look at, but looks much better and more organized than having my shit all over the counters. I just can't organize drawers in the bathroom to easily find my stuff, so I'd just leave it out. Also use on in my laundry room for cleaning products.

u/sneaky_dragon · 3 pointsr/declutter

If you have room for a shallow bin or two, you can fold underwear and socks so that they are filed and easy to grab. It just takes more effort beforehand. I recently reorganized my drawers this way and it freed up so much space and made everything more organized.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8Dg0g2OPRg4

Another idea is to have these hanging shelves somewhere: http://www.amazon.com/Whitmor-6351-1234-JAVA-Organizer-Collection-Accessory/dp/B001KMRZ0U/

You can buy bins and then consequently organize your underwear and shirts like the previous video shown.

http://www.amazon.com/Household-Essentials-Drawers-Hanging-Organizer/dp/B0044SHP16/

Only hang what you need to, like suits, dresses, and jackets.

u/kds405 · 3 pointsr/rutgers

You won't have room for anything extra other than perhaps a fan (definitely bring one) and a lamp (again bring one). Get something like this for your closet. Did you have anything specific you wanted to bring?

u/wackybones · 3 pointsr/DesignMyRoom

Taller and slimmer laundry basket, and for the clothes up on the top shelf you could try putting them in one of these hanging shelves and storing bigger items on the shelf, such as suitcases, extra pillows, or the sewing machine. I would also consider a laundry basket with a lid to keep any odor contained in the dirty clothes, and not sinking into the fabric of your clean clothes.

If you don't like the look of those hanging shelves, you could try replacing your plastic drawers with this style of furniture that you can often find on craigslist or at a thrift store if you don't want to buy new. Obviously double check the dimensions of it to make sure it would fit. Then you can store things in a square basket and it keeps things feeling and looking tidy.

The towels could also be hung on over the door hooks to keep the doors from getting damp.

u/ardentbliss · 3 pointsr/BadDragon

These work well if your bed is raised, but large / extra large BD toys won’t fit. I also use ammo boxes here

u/Informationator · 3 pointsr/gamecollecting

http://www.amazon.com/ECR4Kids-Lock-Portable-Under-Bed-Personal/dp/B005JCZI5G/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1370285347&sr=8-1&keywords=under+bed+safe

We have kids... so we feel the need to lock up and be subtle. We have 2 of these safes under the bed for stuff we want handy, and then a locked closet in the attic for things that we don't need as readily available. We also mask a few key things in plain sight... for example we have a series of hammock chairs hanging in our game room in the basement... which explains why we need load-bearing hardware in the ceiling of the basement, right?

u/CantStopStaring · 2 pointsr/bdsm

This might be larger than you're looking for, but is designed to slide under a bed and accommodates a padlock or luggage lock. This one is smaller, but I'm not sure if it will fit a crop. You can use IKEA SKUBB series for easy dividers that will stay put. I recommend a soft cotton washcloth to wrap around any "clinkety" restraints and perhaps a soft cloth bag to stuff them in if you plan to be moving the box -- otherwise it might start to make noise.

The charging port is going to be tricky, but most of these are simple enough that you could drill a hole in the lid to pass the charger through.

u/ABL228 · 2 pointsr/JUSTNOFAMILY

You are definitely under reacting!

I think that your "normal meter" is broken. Because nothing about what you described is 'normal' in a healthy environment (family or otherwise).

You are being abused (physically, verbally, mentally, emotionally) & continually manipulated.

THIS IS NOT A HEALTHY FAMILY DYNAMIC.

THIS IS NOT HOW PEOPLE WHO LOVE YOU ACT.

THIS IS NOT OKAY.

THIS IS NOT NORMAL.

If you haven't been documenting this behavior/physical attacks, you need to start now. If you can safely record or take videos (& its legal in your state) do so. Make sure that the recordings/videos are stored in a cloud that is password protected (& not attached to your normal email/phone number). Use a new email account (gmail) & a password that isn't written down anywhere (maybe leave a sealed envelope with the information in a secured spot at your workspace to give to the police if something happens)? There are recommendations (in the sidebar here & on some of the other justno subs) on how to write down what happens in a composition notebook, but please don't store this any place that it might be found by your abusers.

Have you talked to your therapist about the physical abuse & ongoing verbal/physical threats?

Most therapists don't suggest a discussion/rule setting/negotiation of behavior with someone who won't stop an attack or encourages an abuser. They suggest an exit plan - the sooner the better.

No amount of discussion with your Mother is going to change her behavior or help you. She isn't willing to get your brother out of her life or yours. For whatever reason, she is encouraging, provoking, & enabling his behavior. She wants you to stay so that you can continue to be a victim for him (& her, as needed).

You need to stop setting yourself on fire to keep everyone else warm.

YOU DO NOT owe your mother or siblings ANYTHING.

They are adults who are actively choosing to remain in a behavior pattern that is violent & self destructive.

It sounds like there are some serious psychological problems along with a cycle of violence that are way beyond what you can or will ever be able to help with. IT IS NOT YOUR RESPONSIBILITY TO FIX THIS.

The physical/verbal abuse between your brother & mother is something that you can not involve yourself with anymore. They don't want to change their behavior & see nothing wrong with it.

They may be your biological family, but they don't want your protection/help/intervention & nothing you do or say will change anything (except further damage you). THEY need to WANT to change (& it doesn't seem like any of them want to do this).

By staying in the home them/this situation, the chance of one of them hurting you or even killing you is extremely high. It might not be entirely deliberate, but violence continues to escalate & they have already shown that they are willing to hurt you.

Is there a way for you to move out now? Not necessarily an apartment (unless you can find a tiny studio), but as a roommate? A room for rent in an apartment or house (ask around if a friend or co-worker has room or knows of someone who might or even via an ad on Craigslist) somewhere locally? You need to get out of that house YESTERDAY.

Moving to a safe location locally for the next 4-5 months until you can move 800+ miles away is a very good idea. If you can move to the new location now, that would be a good idea.

If you can move, do not tell your mother or siblings where you are moving to, block them from your phone (or port your number to google voice & change your actual mobile phone number), forward all of your mail to a PO Box, & cut off all contact with them immediately.

Your biological family is dangerous to you & they only want you around to be a victim for their behavior.

Advise your HR & supervisor at work that your family has been violent towards you in the past & made threats. If your family attempts to show up at your work, the workplace can have them arrested for trespassing.

Talk to your local police department about the threats & previous attacks by your family. They probably won't be able to issue a restraining order unless you have additional proof (video, hospital visits, etc.). This is how you can make sure that the police know the situation & they won't investigate if your Mom attempts to report you missing, etc. They can advise if a "No Contact Order" sent by an attorney would be a good idea (if you want to pursue a restraining order).

To make your move easily portable & give you very little furniture for your move, here are some suggestions for items that can easily pack into an average size car with your clothes & personal items.

A well made double height queen size airbed/air mattress (typically less than $100, but max $150). Look for the ones with internal reinforcement, as they are more comfortable for long term sleep (& I know people who have replaced their long term mattress with one).
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07MZTS6GB/
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07D3C73GH/
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07HK3Y6SS/

A thick mattress pad with a feather bed under it, & some cotton/flannel sheets with a blanket or 2, a thick comforter, & a couple of pillows.

Having a thick mattress pad & feather bed (or even another comforter) under the mattress pad will be more comfortable overall & keep a good barrier between the cool air in the bed & your body (so you don't get too cold at night).

TJ Maxx & HomeGoods (or similar) almost always have mattress pads, comforter & sheet sets in their clearance sections. Even at full price, they have all of the items & are almost always less expensive than most stores (including WalMart/Meijer). Occasionally Target will have a sale & their sheets are a decent price. I have bought quite a few sets of 100% cotton high end sheets that have lasted for years at TJ Maxx/HomeGoods. You can sometimes find nice blankets & comforters at Goodwill, Thrift Stores, or garage sales (& they are super cheap!).

A folding camping table & a lamp that can clip onto it become a bedside table.

An oversized folding chair with a throw blanket becomes a comfy place for you to sit in your bedroom.
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01JZSWP2S/
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00P27CTYQ/

All of your clothes can be hung in the closet & items that don't hang (sweaters, socks, underwear) can go into portable shelving with a few drawer inserts.
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07PHYTVHJ/
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07PZ6CGL2/
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00NMTUBF0/
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07CG4D8WL/

For any storage (like extra shoes, summer clothes, or extra sheets/blankets), you can use soft boxes & put on the upper shelf or stack on the floor of the closet.
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07YWFY9K4/
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07PCNGJP8/

If you end up in a studio apartment & need kitchen items, check your local thrift/recycle stores. You can buy individual cups, dishes, silverware, cooking implements, pots & pans - just enough for 1 person instead of whole sets - which you may not need right now.

When you are moving, you can condense all of your soft items (sheets, blankets, pillows, & clothing) down to a much smaller size by using compression vacuum bags. They are also great for longer term storage!

:(

I had an awesome one back in the day that dropped into the spare tire well. It had a couple of compartments that had plastic lids to organize things. With the CV being phased out everywhere, they're available at state surplus sites for pennies on the dollar.

OK, so since that's not an option, here's what I'd suggest.

First, get yourself a couple of tackle boxes. One for your basic crime scene stuff (powders, tape, brushes, etc), one for your first aid stuff, one for odds and ends.

Next, invest in an under-bed storage tote. The long one. Measure your trunk first, then find one that's the right length. That will hold your bulkier stuff. Make sure to get one that hinges in the middle.

Then, it's all about the bags. Active shooter bag, bag for stuff you need but don't keep in the cabin, etc. If you're as paper dependent as we were back in the day, consider one of those hard-sided hanging file holders.

Take homes for the win!

u/hitonihi · 2 pointsr/BDSMcommunity

These days, we have a bed frame with four drawers, two of which hold toys. (I can't find the exact one, but it's from Ikea, and they sell a bunch of storage beds in various sizes.) Anything that can be hung up is in the closet on a belt hanger (like this: https://www.amazon.com/InterDesign-Closet-Storage-Organizer-Chrome/dp/B0014RB3CW). But we've also used under bed boxes (https://www.amazon.com/Plastic-Underbed-Storage-Stackable-Latching/dp/B06ZZY2M92/), in the past, as well as Sterilite plastic drawers (https://www.amazon.com/HOMZ-Plastic-Drawer-Storage-Drawers/dp/B06ZXYG3CC/)

u/KelMHill · 2 pointsr/malelivingspace

Obviously, storage is the main need. Your only options are to add a cabinet on the wall above the toilet or on the wall above the towel rack. You can also hang storage on the back of the door, in the form of a shoe storage unit, but not used for shoes. This kind of thing...

u/superclr · 2 pointsr/knitting

Cheap and efficient solution if you have some spare closet space, one of these hanging shelf things. I live in a condo with limited space but a surprisingly large closet and have my yarn on one of those, works like a charm.

u/scooberty · 2 pointsr/malelivingspace

Get a metal frame that sits up high. Put stuff you own under it, in a closet (clothes in a hanging dresser) or on an end table. Throw out everything else.

If you don't want a small room to feel cluttered you have to have less shit :D

u/Subishgirl · 2 pointsr/BDSMAdvice

They make thin, under bed locking tubs, like this: https://www.amazon.com/ECR4Kids-Lock-Portable-Under-Bed-Personal/dp/B005JCZI5G

Since they are thinner they might be better than a deeper trunk.

u/kayrays · 2 pointsr/knitting
  • My interchangeable and fixed circulars are stored in this case from Knitpicks. I really like mine - I have one for knitting needles and another for crochet hooks.

  • DPNs are in a pencil roll-style case (looks a bit like this) that I made. Mine is embroidered with the needle sizes because my DPNs aren't marked. That saves time when looking for a specific size.

  • Stitch markers and little odds and ends are stored in something like this from the jewelry section in Michaels.

  • Larger supplies like cable needles and stitch holders go in a pencil case.

All of that goes in a drawer with things like a tape measure, scissors and all of the other little supplies.

WIPs are stored in fabric drawstring bags that I made. They go in another bin if I don't plan on working on them anytime soon.

Yarn is stored in plastic totes with lids. Don't skimp on your yarn storage - keep it covered and protected from pets, young kids and anything else that could get into it (whether it be water, pests...). Bins designed to go under a bed are great if you don't have much space.
u/TheGreatKhan22 · 2 pointsr/Rabbits

I've done this as well. I would actually reccomend getting a long, underbed storage bin like this. It fits perfectly on the back seat so the bunnies can move around, but since it's plastic you can avoid getting pee/poop on your seats and you can clean it.

u/TrashPickles · 2 pointsr/BadDragon

I have two of these for my toys:

I forgot to consider you might be out of the U.S, but my tips should still apply.

This might sound obvious but don't overpack clothes. Some of my roommates and myself included brought so many clothes that we don't use and it's just taking up space.

For kitchen use, take your own utensils but just one of each you're not going to need more than that trust me. For kitchen equipment like pans and pots, if your buddys do get in coordinate who takes what so you don't have multiples.

In the beginning it's all about taking what's absolutely essential, if you're able to go home during breaks that's when you bring some more stuff if you have the space.

I'm gonna link some stuff in a moment that you should absolutely consider buying. They're going to be amazon links but big chain stores in your area should carry similar products.

I'm probably in the minority here, but I am not a huge fan of these systems, as there is so much wasted space! I have no problem putting a dresser in a closet. We have 4-drawer dressers in two bedroom closets.

All of our current closets and pantry came fitted with basic Closet Maid wire shelving, and that's fine with me. We have canvas or fabric sweater and shoe organisers and some boxes that fit in the sweater one. I use banker's boxes or plastic storage bins on the upper shelves. I also make use of doubling rods, basically a short closet rod on two long hooks, so shirts can be hung on upper and lower rods.

btw, if you are set on a closet-shelving system, check your lease, and verify that you can remove it when you leave. Some leases require that anything attached to the walls becomes the property of the landlord. This protects them from having huge holes left in the walls.

If that is the case, be sure that the system you choose will leave only clips attached, which you would leave behind while taking all the expensive pieces with you!

I'd highly recommend a hamper similar to this one - obviously I'm not expecting anyone to pay $100 for a hamper, but I've found it a worth while investment. Mine was on sale somewhere for only $40, but where the canvas bag comes out of it and ties up into a bag, it made carrying my laundry a hell of a lot easier to and from the laundromat! I would advise against putting the laundry hamper under your clean laundry, or anywhere that close for that matter, just because you don't want your clean clothes to smell like sweaty feet and other putrid smells, right?

I would go with the first baskets purely for the looks of them - not a fan of the cheap looking plastic labels on the fronts of the others. Or possibly something like these. Be sure to measure and make sure they would fit! Maybe 4 of them? Jeans, t-shirts, socks/underwear, etc?

Yes, real plants. Though if you're not up for watering them and you're up for dusting fake plants, by all means go for the fake plants! However on the other hand, have a look into succulents - require very minimal maintenance and can really add to a room.

My favorite movie, currently, is The Awakening. So good.

A little blurb about me: I am in undergrad right now studying clinical psychology and theatre (performance and technical theatre). I have a dog named Leo and he's kind of a buttface, but I love him. He's a shitzu. I go to school in a different state so I'm only home for three months a year (which can actually be too much). I really love to boil a Potato and then put Sriracha on it. Probably one of my favorite foods, actually. I spend most of my summer time working at a movie theater or playing video games. This bedside remote caddy would be nice for my dorm room.

This is awesome for storage under beds and other raised furniture.

My mother swears by these. They are also good for under-bed storage as well as for use in closets.

Pair this and this with this to save closet space.

This doesn't just have to be used in a closet! It can be hung as a display unit in a dining or living room!

I have the same philosophy as you both. I have one giant reusable bag with my stash in it and frankly, I feel like it is too damn much. I plan on buying something similar to this to organize it so I can see it and organize it by weight because it really bugs me having it all crammed together. (Thanks to whoever it was that recently posted the idea!) In the past month I've gone on a couple of trips and of course I had to buy some yarn; I bought some pretties without a project in mind and now it is really bugging me. What if I find the perfect project for it but I didn't buy enough?! What if I only need one skein and now I have two? I don't want matchy things and I don't to give away gifts that are hand-wash only. Sigh. Life is so hard.

Personally I think if you want more storage space and want to use under your bed you are far better off with something like this
