This is the one I got, AVLT-Power Triple Monitor Arm

u/TheBullshitPatrol · 10 pointsr/buildapcsales

such bullshit, this exact mount has been $15 for YEARS (not to mention that every other < 27" display mount on Amazon is $15-20). I've bought several.

http://camelcamelcamel.com/VideoSecu-Monitor-Articulating-Bracket-ML10B/product/B000ID7QNI

you could go on any amazon page and find some bullshit MSRP mark down to make the actual price look better than it is.

FWIW, these are still a pretty good way to go. Absolutely do not purchase one that uses a "ball joint" where the arm meets the monitor. It is impossible to get those fixed where you want them.

Least expensive triple arm I can find. I got one recently and it is great.

u/KLLSWITCH · 4 pointsr/hackintosh

short answer is why not? and they are mounted to the wall with some cheap mounts from amazon

link here

u/gyunexX · 3 pointsr/battlestations

i got the cheapest wall mounts at a local store
but they are similar to something like this.

i doesn't matter how big the monitors are, what is mostly important with wallmounting is weight.

my left monitor is a 27'' and it holds just fine.

Certain models will definitely fit. I assume the Uplift model may even fit as well. The foot print is very small. The reason I believe they don't bundle them with the tabletop size that small is because it "could" get in your way since there is less leg room. I assume you wouldn't have issues if you put it as close to the leg frame as possible.

I'm unsure how much your PC weighs, but you can save some money getting from Amazon. I just got my Uplift desk setup this weekend and I got this CPU Holder from Amazon for half the price. Holds up to 22 pounds. I was only using mine for my UPS unit so it worked perfectly. There are other cheaper options on Amazon that are still less than
the Uplift holders.

Haha, ya - but I was at a point in my life where I said..fuck it - I'm going to finally go all out and get what I want! I'm thinking about switching the 43" for a 34" @ 100-120hz and changing the wall mount to https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00BCA41C0 so I can move it down and in front of the middle and use it for gaming. I swear it's easy to get obsessed with this stuff, but I love it!

OR

Get a mount like this that can handle all 4 at once https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07G9P4XGQ (switching the top to a 34" as well) and setting up a standing desk U shape with a base like this: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B079SPKM13/

Damn I didn't see the second and third pictures duh! So if you use that panel I showed you from amazon (or one like it, there's a lot of wires there) this may be a better choice.

https://www.amazon.com/TRENDnet-Unshielded-Wallmount-Compatible-TC-P24C6/dp/B0000AZK72/ref=sr_1_7?keywords=patch+panel+wall+mount&qid=1550278079&s=gateway&sr=8-7

This panel will work with cat5 or cat6, I can't tell what type of wiring you have there but you'll need that

You'll also need some way to mount it on the wall, I used one of these:

https://www.amazon.com/Tripp-Lite-Hinged-Bracket-N060-004/dp/B000E887XU/ref=sr_1_4?keywords=patch+panel+wall+mount&qid=1550278079&s=gateway&sr=8-4

Now with the patch panel, you don't need to put ends on the wire. You use a punch down tool and they go into little clip type things. It makes more sense if you look at the pictures. Here is a punch down tool:

https://www.amazon.com/TRENDnet-Punch-Krone-Blade-TC-PDT/dp/B0000AZK4D/ref=sr_1_5?keywords=punch+down+tool&qid=1550278185&s=gateway&sr=8-5

you're gonna need some patch cables to run from the patch panel to a switch. You're also gonna need a switch down there to connect all the ethernet cables together.

To mount the switch, you're gonna need a rack mount (to look the nicest, and a 19" rack switch).

A nice mount I used is this: https://www.amazon.com/NavePoint-Vertical-Mountable-Server-Hardware/dp/B01M151AOJ/ref=sr_1_4?keywords=vertical+rack+mount&qid=1550278400&s=gateway&sr=8-4

and then a switch, something like this (which I picked more or less at random) https://www.amazon.com/Linksys-LGS124-Rackmount-Unmanaged-Enclosure/dp/B00H1OQBLA/ref=sr_1_3?keywords=rack+mount+switch&qid=1550278467&s=gateway&sr=8-3 will do the job quite well. It's a gigabit unamanaged switch. You can spend a lot more if you want to, but this will probably do the job.

So from there, you need a cable from switch to that box in the first picture with the ethernet ports on the back.

That will give you wired internet in the whole house. Adding access points from there is trivial.

I know it's a lot of information, feel free to ask anything.

Edit: That verizon box in picture 3 looks like it might be more than just a modem, it might be a modem/router. If that's the case you can plug that into the switch. But if it's just a modem, that won't work even tho the ethernet port will physically connect. The best way to tell is that if it only has one ethernet port, then it's just a modem, if it has more than 1 then it's a modem/router.

Here's a breakdown of the parts that aren't computer parts or peripherals:

Part | Quantity | Total Price
---------|----------|----------
Videosecu Vesa Mount | 3 | $47.49
MDF Desk Top | 1 | $11.97
18" x 16" Shelf bracket|2 |$15.96
Vinyl Floor | 2 | $38.66
12"x36" Shelf | 1 | $7.48
Total | | $128.86

All that's left to do is lay down some dividers for where the carpet and vinyl meet.

Very cool! You might consider using some [of these] (http://www.amazon.com/VideoSecu-Monitor-Articulating-Bracket-ML10B/dp/B000ID7QNI/ref=sr_1_6?ie=UTF8&qid=1422243348&sr=8-6&keywords=videosecu&pebp=1422243369265&peasin=B000ID7QNI) in your project, too. I actually mount these to the wall in my office and instead of putting a monitor on them, attach a piece of stained wood. Instant shelf that can be swung out of the way as needed. For a while I had an extra dry erase board on one of them, just turned it perpendicular to the floor, and suddenly, you have a submarine battle board!

u/sm4k · 3 pointsr/DIY

99% of what we watch now is fed via a Roku 2 XS that is mounted to the back of the TV. The upper ethernet is what feeds the Roku. The remote it comes with is Bluetooth, but it also supports RF and IR. Last night I was playing with a Harmony universal remote, and I didn't have any problems with the Roku picking up the Harmony's IR signals, even when stuck behind the TV.

More to your question, the HDMI feed to another room was originally so that I could locate my Xbox in a closet, but I'm not 100% if latency to screen is going to be an issue. The Xbox controllers are RF, so IR is not a problem there. Here is what I installed, I could always replace it with This one if I needed IR to work.

It depends on the arm, but most will fold up very close to the wall.
This one is the same design I have my ultrawide mounted to and it can go very close to flush; basically the thickness of the mount itself will be the deciding factor on how far it protrudes.
Here's one of a different style; it gives more freedom of motion and can also go very close to flush.

The main monitor is an HP 24wd, secondary on top is a Dell SP2309W, and the third in portrait is an Asus MW221. They're all old and I wish they were IPS, but they do the job good enough.

The mount for the secondary monitor is this one and the mount for the portrait monitor is this one. They're pretty damn good in terms of sturdiness and reliability.

Top of TV shelf: https://www.amazon.com/Stanley-ATS-124-Shelf-Large-24-Inch-Width/dp/B00T8U6CHS

i use this with the Andrew Jones Pioneer center channel...but I also use with a reinforced TV stand. Results may vary depending on the speaker weight and balance, and how flimsy your TV and TV stand are.

PS - the reinforced TV stand I use, which is adjustable and might even let you just raise the TV up and not need a shelf on top! You can raise the TV up to 8 inches with my 60" plasma (I only have it up 2" though):

You mean the TotalMount?

I have one and it works fine, but it blocks access to the Roku's USB port (which I use for movies). If you don't use that port, the TotalMount does exactly what it's supposed to and keeps the Roku out of the way.

u/ramses0 · 2 pointsr/todayiresearched

Nope. For monitors I usually just buy what's on sale and is a reasonable / decent brand.

Since it's your health at stake, I would suggest putting the majority of your budget into ergonomics moreso than the monitor itself.

Unfortunately resolution seems to have "maxed out" at 1920x1080 (ie: 1080p HD panel resolution) and when you get into the larger screen sizes it actually works out that you'd prefer more pixels, but it's very difficult to find those types of panels.

Edit: looks like you maybe would want to look into WUXGA monitors for some extra pixels.

Edit-Edit: Oooh, drool: http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Hewlett+Packard+-+ZR2740w+27%22+LED+LCD+Monitor+-+12+ms/4155563.p?id=1218456803916&skuId=4155563&ref=06&loc=01&ci_src=14110944&ci_sku=4155563

Asus, 27" 1080p panel, $320: http://www.geeks.com/details.asp?invtid=VE278Q-DT&cat=MON

Articulating wall-mount, $120: http://www.amazon.com/Ergotron-45-243-026-Wall-Mount-LCD/dp/B00358RFJ8

Sit/Stand keyboard thingy (this is like $300, but don't get that one in particular): http://www.ergomart.com/SIT_STAND_AKP/Quicklift-Sit-Stand-dtl.htm

The reason I suggest the sit/stand style with articulating arms on the monitor / keyboard area is that you can adjust the monitor up / high and stand to type, as well as sit back down. It might help you to be able to change positions because if you are going to be keeping your neck in a fixed position, it is possible that you will end up taking more stresses in your back / shoulders, etc.

WHEN YOU TYPE: make sure your elbows are at your hips. Not at your rib-cage, not flying out like chicken-wings. Not in front of your hips / over your thighs. The elbows are a key indicator to the "quality" of your ergonomic setup. Any deviation from "elbows at hips" and a general 90-degree bend to your keyboard will cause a cascading effect as to tiring out other parts of your body.

Good luck, and I hope you find something that works for you...

Time for you to learn about VERTICAL racks.
They mount to the wall, and your rack-mount equipment hangs vertically (in the same orientation that you just posted your switch.)

u/NarwhalShibboleth · 2 pointsr/buildapc

You might be better off with two separate articulating mounts like this or this (if there is enough lateral distance for the far right one).

Note: You'll need to mount them to studs. Don't try and hang a monitor off just drywall.

u/atw527 · 2 pointsr/meraki

Glad it's mostly working out. Consider looking into a vertical wall mount for at least that 48p switch.

Keyboard: Tomoko Blue Switch Needed a keyboard for when I used a laptop when its keyboard was failing. Went with a cheap mechanical. My short review of keyboard

Mouse: SteelSeries Sensei Swapping out for a Zowie FK1 on Monday (Sensei has disconnect issues after 4 years of use)

Headset: Siberia 350 Originally had a Siberia V2 I got for $50 @ Walmart due to box damage. RMA'd once for a V2 with the soundcard. That one allows for both orientations it appears (I think you move the mounting bracket).

You could use the mount you have now, but just get longer screws and some spacers.

u/niandra3 · 2 pointsr/buildastudio

I have an L-shaped desk, and the part I want to use is the section to my left, I don't actually put my legs under it often. It just holds my keyboards/mixers.

Yeah getting the brackets right might be somewhat tricky, but 1U racks are 1.75" thick, so I could potentially just get a 2" bracket and line it with rubber or something to fill the gap. That shouldn't be too difficult.

I'm just really surprised there isn't something already out there that does this. They do make some vertical rack mounts that are supposed to be attached to walls, which might work for my purposes, if I get one in the correct configuration.

I'm back to answer your specific question of whether a smaller monitor would help.

The problem isn't your monitor, it's the monitor's base, so you could get a new monitor and mount it off the desk to have more desk space. The new monitor could be any size, even larger, and you can probably find one that's thinner.

There are a lot of ways to mount it. To totally clear your desk, you could mount it on the wall, or a desk clamp would leave you with a minimal base on the desk:

https://smile.amazon.com/Monitor-Bracket-Adjustable-Swivel-Monitors/dp/B07KT13216/

https://smile.amazon.com/VIVO-Monitor-Adjustable-Screens-STAND-V101C/dp/B071FX6H53/

There are a lot of 22" 1080p monitors. Many don't have a VESA mount and it looks like you'll need a VGA port (?), so check their specs carefully before buying one:

https://smile.amazon.com/HP-23-8-inch-Adjustment-Speakers-VH240a/dp/B072M34RQC/

u/Abulap · 2 pointsr/ultrawidemasterrace

If you want a monitor mount with feet standing on your desk, go for kermiAUS suggestion, but you mention you dont want a clamp style because of your desk (maybe doesnt have a lip to mount it to?) but consider some of this clamps also have a drilled styled, that would end up much more secure and taking much less desk space, for example AVLT-Power Triple Monitor Mount Stand - it has a clap but also cane be desk drilled and mounted from the bottom.

u/RamblinEngineer · 2 pointsr/battlestations

I got three of these. They are ok. Even though I mounted them level the monitors ended up at slightly different angles so the edges don't match up well.

It's a solid mount now that it's installed, but installing it by myself was a bit of a pain in the ass. If you're mounting anything bigger than like a 19-inch screen, grab a buddy to hold it steady for you while you drill it into the wall. The tilt/swing work very nicely for my needs.

https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B001OCY3RY/ref=mp_s_a_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1486326034&sr=8-1&pi=AC_SX236_SY340_FMwebp_QL65&keywords=low+profile+tv+mount&dpPl=1&dpID=415NsUrAsIL&ref=plSrch

Look for low profile mounts. The problem you will run into, it that the tv has a hump on the bottom half of the screen so this will protrude the tv more no matter the mount.

It you really are serious about low profile, you could cut the drywall out where the mount goes and it will go even further against the wall another 1/2 to 3/4 of a inch.

Kinda, but I'd like the mounting arms to be able to adjust horizontally and control the tilt. Primarily be able to pull the monitors closer or push them back. Even with the single gas spring I'm using now for my UW, I never really adjust the vertical height.

I'm thinking of just getting a triple monitor mount then wall mounting the top one, but even then, I can't decide between the styles of these 2 however:

Most 2U racks that are deep enough to take a 1U server (30+inches deep) are meant for vertical wallmount installation. However they might work for you.

https://www.amazon.com/NavePoint-Vertical-Mountable-Server-Hardware/dp/B01M05Y5KR/

That's an example of what I'm talking about. You could easily bolt it to something else, but, they're made to hang off of a wall.

There are thousands on Amazon. This one has tilt, rotate, and swivel for $9.99: https://www.amazon.com/Mount-Universal-Computer-Extension-Compatible/dp/B073DDNHQQ/

Just make sure the monitors have either VESA 75x75 or 100x100 spacing.

u/loki_racer · 1 pointr/battlestations

Something very similar to this. I bought mine locally, it's a no-name brand model.

u/chuckfr · 1 pointr/StandingDesk

I went with one similar to this one from Vivo. The brand I chose is not available, but it looks like one of the two is a rebranding of the other.

I thought about spending a little more on one that slid out in addition to rotating. Honestly though, since mounting it and running the cables I haven't messed with it much at all. The rotating function has given me the access to the back of the machine on the few occasions I've needed it over the last ~6 months.

Just be sure of the location before screwing it down. Make sure you can rotate it from the location where the base is mounted.

Buying one of these through the standing desk makers is going to severely add to the cost that's really not needed.

I have this mount from MonoPrice for my 55" Samsung and I like it. Full adjustable tilt and swivel. It's rated to support up to 132lbs, the 70" Sharp recommended elsewhere is only 83lbs.

This one on Amazon looks comparable and is just a few bucks more.

Do something similar to TV safety straps.

How far away are the speakers from the wall? Screw an eye hook to the wall and another to the back of the speaker and connect them with picture hanging wire. Might want to do two for each speaker, one high and a lower one to keep the bottom from swinging out if the top swings on the wire.

Similar to but longer than HOW TO INSTALL SAFETY STRAPS.

You have a few options that I see.

  1. You can mount the TV to the wall and then use the current stand for the sound bar.

  2. Mount the TV and soundbar to the wall.

  3. Get a TV stand to get the TV higher up and put the soundbar below it.

  4. Get a TV shelf and put the soundbar on it. You'll get better results having it lower most of the time but this could work.
u/wschoate3 · 1 pointr/homelab

You can mount these vertically against a wall with one of these 2U Wall Racks. I currently have a Precision T5600 I was given, but if I had my druthers I`d probably part together a nice R620 with a flash array at some point. This is how I'd shoehorn it into my house, for sure.

May I suggest Ergotron instead. Cheaper and just as good if not nicer.

u/alpharelic · 1 pointr/InteriorDesign

Okay here's my idea of layout:

https://imgur.com/a/t1nMS

I would DEFINITELY move your TV away from the window because it is blocking so much of that lovely light! Look at the shadows it's making on the wall... it'd be a shame to leave it there. But get what you're saying about glare from the window. Any chance that you could mount the TV on the wall? The TV stand could still go underneath it, but you can get cable tidies to hide the cables. Get a nice picture frame or vintage vase/pot or something to sit on the glass TV stand (with the TV mounted above) will draw people's attention away from cables etc anyway.

There was another post on this subreddit today by somebody who had made a cool desk out of IKEA products: https://www.reddit.com/r/InteriorDesign/comments/80qy8v/ideas_for_office_carpet_and_complete_room. Notice how they've used 2x of the little shelving units and a piece of wood. If you don't want to buy the individual drawer units then IKEA do super cheap legs that you can just screw into a piece of wood. You could get the wood cut easily at any DIY place, or Home Depot or whatever. The beauty of this is that you can get it to fit your space perfectly and maximise the room available.

I agree your furniture isn't the most exciting but that's fine - we've all had free furniture! An easy cheap way to improve them is to cover it with a nice throw. Something like this would be simple and much more attractive:

u/Zoxc32 · 1 pointr/HomeNetworking

Oh, make sure you run multiple cables to the room to match the number of devices (Xbox, PC, TV, etc.) just to avoid a switch taking up space in the room.

I'd recommend a modular keystone patch panel to plug all the cables into (you'll need a keystone in each end): https://www.amazon.com/Cable-Matters-Mount-24-Port-Keystone/dp/B0072JVT02

A rack mount where you can mount the patch panel and a switch:
https://www.amazon.com/NavePoint-Vertical-Mountable-Server-Hardware/dp/B01M05Y5KR

You could also go with some other rack mount or even a small rack cabinet. I linked a space saving option, perhaps not the prettiest ;)
You can then get a rack mount 16/24 port switch and mount it right next to patch panel and get a bunch of short patch cables to connect stuff up.

You don't need gigabit or much bandwidth (usually way below 2 Mbps) for gaming, just low latency. An EdgeRouter X with SQM at 100 Mbps could be better than a congested 1000 Mbps link / congested Wifi without SQM when it comes to latency.

u/The_Hope_89 · 1 pointr/pcmasterrace

Link Seems like something like this would be your best bet. You just need to have something sturdy enough to mount it to next to your couch, like a heavy end table.

There are a few of these online, my dad uses these piston driven ergonomic stands for EVERYTHING one of the TV's he has mounted to a wall adjusts halfway across the damn room. I'm texting him to see if he can send me the link, but it has like a 67" 4k TV on it for the guest room, and I can hover the TV right in front of me from about 5' from the wall.

EDIT
Link 1 Ergotron makes some interesting ones.
Link 2 Omnimount makes some others.

Just make sure you know how much your display weighs. You will probably need an interesting way to mount it, but it can be done.

u/Aewosme · 1 pointr/DIY

I bought an arm like this a year ago, it is very solid, perfect for my 24" samsung computer monitor. I have it mounted on the side of my computer desk, similar to the way you are describing you want. At $15, you cant go wrong with it.

u/ajthomas05 · 1 pointr/battlestations

u/frankzotynia10 · 1 pointr/buildapc

u/jamvanderloeff · 1 pointr/buildapc

I reckon it's probably not going to work, since you don't have any way to bolt it to a stud unless you tear out the plasterboard, having only 2 bolts isn't going to be strong enough in my opinion, you'll want to spread the load out as far as possible. Something like http://www.amazon.com/VideoSecu-Bracket-23-Inch-65-Inch-MF608B/dp/B001TIG36C/ref=sr_1_1?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1426222846&sr=1-1&keywords=tilt+wall+mount with 4 anchors on top and bottom would probably be alright as you can spread the bending load over a much wider area.

Well thank you for the suggestion. I went into Home Depot today, and of coarse they didn't have anything close to what I wanted, besides just buying a full wall mount. So I went with your suggestion and tried Amazon. The one you linked has several bad reviews, so I did some more digging and found this one for $15. What I am going to do then is just screw my screen to a wood piece, then screw that the bracket (because the screws don't line up on my LCD and the screw holes on the bracket, so gotta improvise.)

Thanks for your help!

I did exactly that with this mount on an Ikea table, I think this one.

I like it a lot more than having it on the desk, and I don't really notice any heat. I actually mounted some case fans under the desk because I was worried about heat not dissipating but they don't seem to do anything and my temps are fine.

Only downsides are :

  1. It's less convenient to plug stuff in, but I use USB hubs.
  2. I open my case a lot to tinker, and while it's not hard to remove or put in the mount, it is an extra step and squeezing under the desk is annoying.

  3. Biggest for me: I feel like all the effort of building in such a small/thin case is wasted since you can no longer see the computer. I'm debating switching to a slightly larger case with a little more room to tinker.

The chair is an Aeron by Herman Miller - they're pretty expensive, but incredibly comfortable (I work from home, so I had to have something I could handle sitting in for 12 hours at a time).

My bottom three monitors are actually just sitting on the desk, I use a cheap wall mount for the top monitor. I'm actually planning on getting a wall mount for the others eventually, but I'm in an apartment temporarily, so I'm waiting until I move into a house before investing in a mount and a better desk.

What I'd really love to do for my next desk is build my computer in a Red Harbinger gaming computer desk because it looks badass and my one-year-old loves hitting the power button on my tower (which currently sits on the floor).

You could use a regular monitor mount like this and just drill holes into the case to attach it. If you can't weld or fabricate I think you'll have trouble getting something as nice as the maxvision design.

u/Solo_Virtus · 0 pointsr/battlestations

If your setup is such that the monitors could theoretically be wall mounted, I have a pretty good solution.

What I did was cut an 8" x 36" board (plywood or particleboard), and mount it to the wall stud(s). Then, I got three individual monitor wall mounts (http://www.amazon.com/dp/B000ID7QNI) and screwed those into the board.

It's neat because my triple monitors are not only "floating" but you can adjust the angle and pitch perfectly on each one.

u/justathoughtfromme · 0 pointsr/hometheater

For the mount. I've used this one before on a plasma that weighs more than the 900E, and it works just fine.

For the sound, I'm confused. What do you mean by the "the base is going to sit behind my couch"? What base are you referring to? The receiver?

Also, generally speakers don't come with stands, those would have to be purchased separately. A receiver/2 speakers/sub/stands combo for ~$250, after buying that mount I linked, is going to be secondhand items from Craigslist, and even that may be pushing it with the budget you listed.
