Yup.. in NYC a ton of cars have them.. they usually have these up front as well and they look fucking goofy
https://www.amazon.com/BumpShox-XL-Protection-Ultimate-License/dp/B0041LN1L4
question: would it be obnoxious to use one of those bumper bully rubber pads (https://www.amazon.com/PLATINUM-Bumper-Bully-Impact-Pads/dp/B0013CXCYK) or are bumper scratches just a par for the course for street parking? No one on my street has one, but I've been considering it. I once saw a truck in Fremont whose oner had deliberately turned the edges of his front license plate out as to scratch people (or as a deterrent to keep others from scratching his car), which seemed especially rude.
I see many bumper protectors when I go to NY. http://www.amazon.com/BumpShox-XL-Protection-Ultimate-License/dp/B0041LN1L4/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1404749254&sr=8-1&keywords=bumper+shox
I personally would just accept that the car drives the same and NYC is a shitty place to park. I would not want to repaint because it will be bumped again.
Could not have designed a more ugly thing to deface a car. Nowadays bumpers are specifically made so a little bump will cost you a $2000 repair bill. I wish rubber bumpers would make a comeback.
A less ugly solution to mitigate bad parallel parkers backing into you: http://www.amazon.com/Plate-Pocket-BumpTek-Extreme-Edition/dp/B00GFR06U6/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1417183661&sr=8-3&keywords=rubber+license+plate+frame
Here you go mate. Welcome to city life!
A Bumper Bully if she has a car and will be living in the city.
They make a front-end one too, that attaches to your front plate. Though it obviously doesn't protect much againt angled attacks.
Your best bet is to find end spots, or spots where you can park up close to a curb that juts out in front of/behind your car. Usually city designers leave a good 3-4 feet gap between the end of the "parking spot" and where the curb is; dead space essentially. Pull you car up or back into that dead space to give yourself more room away from the other cars.
get something like this
https://www.amazon.com/GOLD-Bumper-Bully-Extreme-Protection/dp/B000XEBI9K
looks like a plate holder to block views from certain angles.
edot:actually i think it is something like this
edit edit: I think this is the exact one.
I got this one for my 2018 after we got a few dings from pulling the stroller out of the back. Despite the description saying it doesn't work with the power lift gate, it does, you just have to be mindful of the placement. Haven't noticed it since I stuck it on back in February.
Edit: stuff.
It looks like some kind of pad so that the jagoff that parks behind him doesn't scratch his bumper.
edit: Found it!
Tyger has one on Amazon that isn’t bad. But I hate they’re logo. But the plate would mount right in front of it completely hiding it. Imagine that!

Yes.
I see it more in New York, but yeah it’s common in places where folks park on the street. Prevents scrapes and such when someone inevitably gets a little too close. Personally never owned one and I think they’re pretty ugly, but I get the appeal.
Tyger Auto TG-GD6T60028 Front Bumper Guard Fits 2005-2018 Toyota Tacoma | Textured Black | Light Mount | Bull Bar https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01NGTEDHE/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_pqiXAbKM2N866

It’s a pretty universal one. The instructions were crap, so I just watched a few YouTube vids to install it correctly. But so far I like it and I think it makes the car look way better.
Model 3 - Any owners use a front license plate bumper protector? Like this or similar: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0798KH79M/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_bg3OBbB9Y99QK
Just wondering if this is compatible with the included front license plate mount. I'm in NY so will need to use the front plate mount, and want to do something to protect her while parked on the street.
If you end up getting the EX-L here's how I accessorized:
Scuff plates - I liked the scuff plates in the Touring (which are backlit) so I bought these. Not backlit but look great, really look like a first-party install.
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07BSQDQH5/
bumper protector - looks sharp and happens to have a similar hexagon pattern to the scuff plates so they look good as a set
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B079P88CPT/
fob case - pink for the wife, black for me - the ex-l has seat memory based on the fob you are using, so makes it easy to tell them apart
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07DBXC134/
console liners - these are great! cover up every single cupholder and surface in the car
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B078MRYNXQ/
screen protector - the screen is so big on the cr-v i think a cover is mandatory
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07CVYHZV9/
I also got a custom windshield cover, the side trim, and the splashguards from handa accessories and self-installed them, happy with all of them.
Bumper Bully Guard to the rescue, highly recommended:
http://www.amazon.com/GOLD-EDITION-Bumper-Bully-Extreme/dp/B000XEBI9K
The one I got is not car specific. You basically clean the bumper and lay some VHB tape, then roll the rubber thing on top of it. Wouldn't exactly recommend as the one I got seems like it is loosing it's stickyness after a month.

Got it here man:
4PcsUniversal ABS Carbon Fiber Car Body Front Bumper Splitter Fins Car Front Bumper Lip Spoiler Fins Canards Trim Kit with Adhesive Tape(carbon fiber) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07GSMHZ6T/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_MrDnDbZ1A0J5W
Also I used screws instead of 3m tape because the tape is too weak
All right, I'm glad you effectively admitted you are wrong by switching to attacking the city I live in instead of addressing the fact that you aren't supposed to drive around with the bumper cover on your car.
The best selling brand specifically states in their product description on Amazon That you aren't supposed to drive with their product on the car.
I'm done, but you can't deny you're wrong on this.
You're good. Of course, you could always park considerately but get one of these.
Well... It's common enough on the East coast they make a silly product to help protect against the effects. I saw em all over the place in NYC.
I've found a big trailer hitch does much the same job in the back, though. Granted, I drive a small pickup, so I can get away with a big trailer hitch. This may not fly on a nice sports coupe. You also can't really put a bull-bar on a sports coupe to protect the front.
It's a stupid thing to do. It's bad for all the cars involved, and it's rude to the other drivers. It's a sign the driver is unable to properly judge the positioning of their car, and it's completely absurd for them to get mad at you over their fuck-up. Stick to your guns, chew out people who hit other cars. If it's your car, ask for their insurance in case there's any damage. It may make the point stick.
Ah didn't know the OEM one was chrome. My car is red and I bought a pretty simple black rubber strip that's adhered with double sided tape.
I bought some rubber frames off of Amazon, found here. Actually adds some protection if your front bumper doesn't have a recessed area to mount your plates like mine does.
Thanks, got it on Amazon.

i go this universal one: https://www.amazon.com/EJs-SUPER-CAR-Protector-Installation/dp/B01N2QV1XE/ref=sr_1_35_sspa?ie=UTF8&qid=1542651293&sr=8-35-spons&keywords=rear+scuff+guard&psc=1
but there are also vehicle specific ones that cost like 3-5x as much.
Would this work?
http://www.amazon.com/Flexyframe-LD-Protection-License-Mechanics/dp/B00881EQ1C/ref=sr_1_5?ie=UTF8&qid=1449784949&sr=8-5&keywords=front+license+plate+bracket
I've noticed a fair number of cars with bumper protectors in Boston, NYC, and DC before while travelling. I haven't noticed them in the west coast or midwest as much, but that could be statistical noise.
For your front bumper you could give this a go, however it may not work depending on what height their bumper is when it hits your front. http://www.amazon.com/BumpShox-XL-Protection-Ultimate-License/dp/B0041LN1L4/ref=pd_sim_auto_1
I have this on my front bumper. I refuse to look like a dork with a bumper bully on the back though so I just deal with the scratches there.

Would work on the front for sure if you have to have a front plate. Depending on the car would help on the back as well.
Thought about getting one of these:.

As a Brooklynite, I bought this: Parking Armor from Amazon I measured in between the lights even though I flip it into the trunk whenever I drive.
Recently went to Manhattan for a wedding, lots of cars had these Bumper Bullies
http://www.amazon.com/GOLD-EDITION-Bumper-Bully-Extreme/dp/B000XEBI9K/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1417174064&sr=8-1&keywords=bumper+guard

All over up there people have shit like this, bumper mat, and they just back up till they hit you then go forward and repeat...
I'd either tell him you don't care or get one of these to shut him up.
If you’ve ever lived in a city, there’s a three bump rule as long as there is no damage. Everyone knows that. That’s why they make these.
I just got this bull bar
In Canada we have to have front and back license plates and that has plate holder screws in the front. I also have a light bar on it, I'll be installing it this weekend if the weather holds up along with fog lights to replace the blanks, pictures to follow.
